Tara Goes For Fourth Glenlair Trophy Today

Pay Day - And Pay Pay?

The 3200m Glenlair Trophy heads a nine-race turf programme on pay day Friday today and with a Pick 6 carryover of R200 000 likely to boost the pool to R1 million, it may pay to follow the bang in-form Tara Laing yard.

Tara Laing – great form continues

Enjoying her best season ever, Tara has waon the Glenlair Trophy three times and saddles a powerful trio headed by one of the Sporting Post’s best bets of the day in the Ideal World gelding My World.

Formerly trained by Stan Elley, and then when he relinquished his licence, by Candice Bass-Robinson, the 6yo stays well but has often battled to deliver the winning blow when it counts.

Tara Laing gave us her thoughts:

“My World runs for, Messrs M Fullard, J Drew, J Kinsley, D Lyall, D Reich & T Whittaker. His first run for the yard over 2400m was a fantastic run, just getting beaten a nostril by the classy stayer Kingston Mines. It was a solid effort and I am expecting a good performance from him today. Plano runs in the Etienne Braun silks. I tried him over the 2400m and he ran third in the same race behind Kingston Mines. If he sees out the distance today he will have every chance. Nico van Niekerk owns the ex Joburg-based Eastern Pearl. His best run was over this distance in Joburg where he finished second in a feature. He stays all day, ran a decent polytrack prep last time and I am expecting a solid effort from him.”

Kingston Mines wins a Gr2 on Sun Met day when still wiith Mike de Kock

There should be little to choose between the Laing runners and the consistent joint top weight Kingston Mines, who is a half kilo worse off with My World and a kilo better off with Eastern Pearl – who could be a more lethal proposition over the extra 800m..

The Pick 6 is off in Race 4 @ 13h50
