A Tapit  filly consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds set an all-time Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. record April 22, selling for $1.9 million to Alex Solis II and Jason Litt, agents for LNJ Foxwoods, during the second session of the sales company’s spring sale.

The price surpassed the previous OBS record of $1.8 million, set first by a Belong to Me colt sold by Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent to Buzz Chace, agent, at the 2006 March Sale. That price was equalled at the 2013 March Sale by a Smart Strike  colt consigned by King’s Equine, agent, purchased by Stonestreet Stables.

The record filly, who breezed a furlong in :10 1/5 at the under tack preview, is produced from the unraced Silver Deputy mare Silver Wolf, a half sister to Metropolitian Handicap (gr. I) winner Corinthian   and grade II winner Desert Hero.

“It’s very exciting,” said Tom Ventura, OBS president. “We’re thrilled to have a horse perform like that here. To see all the pieces fall into place like that is exciting.”

Bred in Kentucky by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings, the filly was purchased by Woodford Thoroughbreds for $335,000 during the fifth session of last year’s Keeneland September sale, where she was consigned by Mr. and Mrs. Jody Huckabay’s Elm Tree Farm, agent for Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings.

“You can’t ask for a better pedigree,” Litt said. “I think I went back to see her seven times. Every time she looked the same, not a care in the world. (She has) a lot of class. She breezed great and galloped out great. At these sales, you’re looking for them to check all the boxes and she really did. We knew we’d have to pay.”

“She’s the best filly in the sale and it wasn’t even close to the next one,” Solis added. “She was the star of the show. It’s really exciting. I can’t wait to get her to the racetrack.”

Ed- Drakenstein Stud offer a Tapit colt at today’s National Yearling Sale – check #207.
