It is a source of astonishment that Stagelight, a Guineas winning son of the great stallion and sire of sires Montjeu was not promoted by his owners
It was a shrewd move by Reeves to allow Nonki Poo to take her chances at grabbing some black type and decent pocket money in the Eastern Cape.
Following the running of Britain’s oldest classic, the Ladbrokes St Leger, focus fell firmly on the late, great stallion Montjeu. His son won the Leger, and gave his sire in the process his third winner of the race.
