Silence isn't golden in this case

Following the now well-publicised pre-Valentine’s Day incidents that involved a colleague at Hollywoodbets Greyville over a week ago, a frustrated Muzi Yeni has penned an open letter to the National Horseracing Authority board as a result of the racing regulator’s apparent failure to respond to his communications.

The letter is published as received. A copy has been sent to the NHA’s senior management for comment.

Mr Yeni writes:

I address this letter to you due to the failure of the chairman, chief executive and Mr Hyde to engage with my attorney and / or to reply to three letters previously sent on my behalf.

On Friday I was advised that due to Mr Moodley and Hyde being in Australia (for a conference that ended the same day -Friday)they would only be able to deal with the Hollywoodbets Greyville incident on their return to the office today (Wednesday, 22 February).

Today they have failed to do so, despite a further letter sent to Mr Moodley, Hyde and the chairman this morning.

As a result of the assault committed on me I have laid a criminal complaint of assault GBH at the SAPS.

I have never been advised of the nature and scope of any possible enquiry ,and find the reasons for my suspension meritless and unfounded.

However the consequence of the behaviour of Mr Moodley and Hyde is that I have to date been suspended for a period of 10 days, without any charge being laid against me, or finding of any wrongdoing.

This I am advised is improper and in contravention of my constitutional rights .

All of the correspondence and my statement made to the NHA investigating officer ( which statement was initiated by me in an attempt to resolve the incident speedily, and to mitigate my damages ) are available to the board from my attorney John Bolus at email address [email protected].

I believe that it is essential that the abovementioned behaviour is brought to the board’s attention in the interests of justice and the industry.

Signed: Muzi Yeni

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
