Summer Cup – Sizzling Final Field

Only two Capetonians in line-up

Disco Al

Cape raider Disco Al drew 1

A top class final field of twenty will line up for  Gauteng’s premier horseracing event which will be run over 2000m at Turffontein on Saturday 29 November. The R2 million Sansui Summer Cup is always a hard fought thrilling affair and the 2014 renewal looks one of the toughest in years.

The race was won last year by Geoff Woodruff-trained Yorker, who was exported to pursue his track career abroad.

Woodruff saddles a quintet of runners headed by Triple Crown hero Louis The King who looks a massive runner from his favourable draw with Piere Strydom in the saddle.

Alec Laird’s Charity Mile winner Bezanova is another who drew smartly at 4, although the distance of the Summer Cup may not suit him ideally.

Joey Ramsden is set to raid from the Cape with the Algoa Cup double champion Disco Al, who drew best of all at 1.

Tyrone Zackey’s Victory Moon Stakes winner Judicial pulled a tough 14 draw but the son of Miesque’s Approval looks very progressive and is an exciting prospect.

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
