Striker Gets 21 Day Suspension

Has Right of Appeal against finding and penalty

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Thursday 18 January 2024, Jockey P Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.

The particulars being that he failed to ride RADU out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards and prejudiced his chances of obtaining fourth place in Race 6 at Turffontein Racecourse on 05 December 2023.

Jockey Strydom pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating and aggravating factors, as well as taking Jockey Strydom’s recent record of contraventions of Rule 62.2.3 into account, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of twenty-one (21) days.

Jockey Strydom has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
