Steyn’s Meu Capitano Can Step Up Today

First due off @ 12h20

Hollywoodbets Kenilworth plays host to a nine-race programme this afternoon with the De Grendel Gr2 Cape Merchants headlining the card as the feature race of the day.

Don’t forget to take the free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge on this meeting with the first due off at 12h20.

This is the 4th and final leg of the R1 million Jackpost Fest with a Jackpot One carryover of R250 000 and a likely pool of R1 million.

Trainer Piet Steyn sends out Meu Capitano in the De Grendel Gr2 Cape Merchants.

He was slow into stride in the Non-Black Type Bantry Bay Stakes last time but ran on well to finish a short-head behind the winner.

He finished 1.45 lengths behind Dance Variety in his penultimate run. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Three of his four career victories have come over this course and distance. If jumping on terms, he should be involved at the finish.

Swiatek from the Justin Snaith stable takes her place in Race 8 and she is the best bet on the programme.

She followed up her debut victory with a good second-place finish over this course and distance.

She raced from a handy position and tried hard all the way to the line.

The daughter of Pomodoro has plenty of scope and from her good draw of two, she should take a power of beating.

Anthony Andrews will not be riding today.
