Staring Down The Barrel

The first is off at 12h25

Fairview Racecourse plays host to an eight-race programme on the turf track this afternoon. The main event on the day is Race 7 which is the Listed East Cape Nursery over 1200m.

Jockey Jabu Jacobs will not be riding at the meeting.

The first is due off at 12h25.

Trainer Alan Greeff saddles Luna Halo in the Listed East Cape Nursery.

She was not disgraced when fourth in the Non-Black Type Bloodstock SA Sales Cup for fillies over this distance at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time.

The manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Fire Away looks to be classy and with Richard Fourie back in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.

Gunsmoke from the Tara Laing stable may be the horse to close off the meeting. He ran a good race in his local debut over this course and distance. He moved up like a winner but was caught late by Flinders Range.

The son of Noble Tune would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He meets a similar field this afternoon and from his mid-field draw of seven, he is capable of going one better.
