Springboks: Kolisi And Kolbe – In Recovery

Soon to be back-in-action

Kolisi took to Instagram late on Tuesday night to reveal that an operation on his right hand “went well” and that he’ll be back soon.

The double World Cup winner was posing in a hospital in France with his wife Rachel and children, smiling while nibbling on a baguette.

It is Kolisi’s second surgery in less than 12 months. Last year, he partially tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a match for the Sharks and made a near-miracle recovery to lead the Boks to a fourth World Cup title in France.

Meanwhile, Bok teammate Kolbe is also on the sidelines. The hot-stepper missed Suntory Sungoliath’s last match in Japan’s League One this past weekend. While the club is yet to issue any statement, Kolbe inadvertently gave an update via social media.

On Saturday, the winger featured in a short video on X where he was holding up a Mamelodi Sundowns shirt and wishing them well for the season. His left hand was clearly in a cast from an undisclosed injury. Japan-based journalist Rich Freeman claims that Kolbe will be in recovery for between four and six weeks.
