The Snaith Racing Poll to determine the hotly debated crown of our greatest racehorse attracted close on 50 000 votes.

The iconic Sea Cottage won it with 51% of the vote from Horse Chestnut on 32%.

Mowgli was in third with a 6% support from racing fans, while Politician was running on strongly with 4%.

Dead heaters in fifth were Pocket Power and Wolf Power with 3% each.

A total of 49782 votes were reportedly cast.

The balance of the 1% of the ballot was made up as follows:

  • Jet Master (166 votes)
  • Colorado King (97 votes)
  • Empress Club (73 votes)
  • Hawaii (63 votes)
