The National Horseracing Authority handicappers have published their merit rating assessment of Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Settlers Trophy feature.
They report that SOMERSET MAUGHAM has had his merit rating raised from 98 to 100 following his win – via an objection – in the Listed Hollywoodbets Settlers Trophy over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Saturday 24 September.

Chase Liebenberg captured Somerset Maugham at the start of Saturday’s feature
HAN SOLO was considered to make for the most suitable line horse despite his involvement in the objection as he did not suffer any interference.
Accordingly, SOMERSET MAUGHAM receives the minimum two pound or 1 kg penalty which all handicap winners must get. However, as HAN SOLO carried 0.5 kg or 1 pound overweight his rating goes up from 95 to 96 despite being the line horse.
3rd placed THEFUTUREISBRIGHT, who was 3 pounds or 1.5 kgs under sufferance at the weights and who was beaten 1.25 lengths (2 pounds) by the line horse, goes up from 91 to 92. There were no other rating’s increases, but four horses received a drop.
CROME YELLOW is down from 110 to 109, CHEWBACA drops to 100 from 101, DUBAI LIGHTS is down from 87 to 85, and lastly SALVATOR MUNDI was cut from 100 to 99.
