Five time Gr1 winner Got The Greenlight, a star of his generation, will be sold for stud, to dissolve a partnership, at Kenilworth Racecourse today.
The sale, on Cape Derby Day, is open to all bidders and will be conducted under the auspices of Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) in the parade ring after the last race of the afternoon.
Got The Greenlight, a five-year-old bay horse, will be the first son of super sire Gimmethegreenlight to go to the stud barn and lively interest is expected in his best-performed son.
His dam is the Australian-bred Command Chi, by Commands.The South African-bred Surcharge (Yulong Prince) is at stud in Australia.
Got The Greenlight raced just 21 times for eight wins and ten places – five of his victories in Grade 1 company. He won the Premier’s Champion Stakes as a two-year-old, the SA Classic and the Daily News at three and the Horse Chestnut Stakes and the Premier’s Challenge at four, defeating the country’s best. He also finished second and third respectively in successive Durban Julys.
Got The Greenlight won a Group 1 race as a 2yo, 3yo and 4yo. A truly exceptional racehorse. Got The Greenlight raced for the partnership of Dayalan Chinsammy, Hassen Adams and Joey Soma and won from 1200m – 2000m. He was trained throughout his career by Soma.
