Happy New Year For Three Punters

Pool reaches R64 million

Three lucky punters each won a whopping R13-million after getting 13 out of 13 in Saturday’s Soccer 13 extravaganza.

The Soccer 13 Pool on Saturday 29 December eventually closed on R64-million – thanks to the R23-million carryover from the week before and a frenzy of activity from punters all dreaming of catching “the big one”.

Another 116 punters walked away R57,000 richer after correctly predicting the outcome of 12 of the 13 matches.

But they were not the only big winners on the day.

One punter also won more than R1-million in Saturday’s Soccer 10 after correctly predicting the outcome of all the matches.

“This weekend really was a grand finale to the year,” said Mervin Gamble, General Manager: Sports Betting at Phumelela.

“We expected Saturday’s Soccer 13 pool to peak at around R45-million, but were blown away with the pool reaching R64-million. The 116 punters that missed out with 1 incorrect result were extremely unlucky but there were a couple of harsh results with some big teams losing.

”With the next round of English Premiership action scheduled for 1 and 2 January, punters don’t have to wait long for a second bite at the cherry.”
