So Close Yesterday – Can Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge Be Won Today?

Early start at 11h45

With two players coming within a heartbeat of winning R900 000 in the free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday, there should be plenty of interest in the R1,5 million  that could potentially be won on the Vaal Classic course today.

Lady Serena and Cheeky Laddie were the two horses carrying the dreams of the two players, Ronel11 and Demon420 respectively, in the final race of the midweek KZN meeting. But Formagear was the selection that would have made the big difference as he charged home under Smanga Khumalo for trainer Peter Muscutt.

The challenge is easy to play, and spending just R50 on the programmatically generated betslip doubles the winning payout. With 75 runners currently carded to start at Vaal today, the basic all-or-nothing jackpot is R750 000. This is doubled with the minimum R50 wager. So there is R1,5 million up for grabs!

Nine races are carded with the first due off at 11h45 and the lucky last set for 16h20.

Roy Magner saddles Super Awesome in Race 2 and he is the best bet on the programme. He showed good speed over this distance last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of King Rahul.

It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Capetown Noir meets the right field here and he should take a power of beating.

Lulu’s Boy from the Kobus Roux stable may be the horse to close off the meeting. He finished 1.5 lengths behind Fully Loaded last time.

He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. All three of his victories have come over this distance. If allowed to use his early gate speed, he should be hard to peg back.
