Snaith – ‘The Moment We’ve Waited For’

Off time is 14h05

There are eight Hollywoodbets Durban July entries in the final field for Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Dolphins Gr3 Cup Trial at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Michele Wing chatted to the connections of some of the runners:

  1. ORIENTAL CHARM : “He’s taken his last run very well and come on a ton from it. There are 1 or 2 horses that look to be a danger in the field, but he is the best horse on form. Obviously draw 10 is not ideal, but if JP van der Merwe can place him well and get him into a good position, I do make him a massive runner. I do think he can win on the day”, James Crawford.
  2. MUCHO DINERO : “He is our dark horse for ‘the July’. We’re coming in hot with him. If he finishes it off in the straight, he’ll take a lot of beating. A lot of respect to some of the other horses in the race, but this is the moment we’ve waited for”, Justin Snaith.
  3. PONTE PIETRA : “A very competitive race. I thought his last run was a very good performance (WSB 1900 Gr2), although things didn’t work out for him during the running of the race. Serino Moodley knows him well and he’s nicely drawn at 2. We’ve put a compression hood and earmuffs on him, which has made him settle down. I think he’ll run a big race on Saturday. He has loads of ability and is doing exceptionally well”, Dean Kannemeyer.
  4. IMILENZEYOKUDUDUMA : “He was asked to do a bit much last time out in the WSB 1900. He was drawn poorly and we opted to take our medicine from the bad draw, but he had too much ground to make up. He ran on very well. From a better draw and hopefully we can place him a little more prominently, we feel there’s improvement to come. We do expect him to make his presence felt”, Gareth van Zyl.
  5. JORDAN : “His last run was very encouraging. Barbaresco (who Jordan beat into 2nd) came out in the Daily News 2000 and ran a very good race. We have a lot to do at the weights, however he’s by Silvano and an improving 3-year-old. If the race works out for him, he should be thereabouts”, Sean Tarry.
  6. SHOEMAKER : “He’s drawn 1. Mike de Kock gave me the impression that this horse is spot-on for this race. It’s the type of race and distance he is looking for. Obviously, we have to beat Oriental Charm … we can try but otherwise run a place”, Piere Strydom.
  7. CELESTIAL CITY : “He’s doing very well. I believe he’s looking for further. I’m very comfortable with the Hollywoodbets Greyville 1800m. He’s got a good draw and Kabelo gets on very well with him. Although we’re not that well weighted, I am expecting a very good showing”, Sean Tarry.
