Snaith leading through innovation

Suited! Jet Explorer and Run For It in their compression suits

The high riding  Snaith Racing Team have launched a high tech assault on the Vodacom Durban July.Their candidates, Gr2 Betting World 1900 winner Jet Explorer and the enigmatically talented recently gelded Run For It, were photographed in their bubble suits at Clairwood this week.

The Snaith family operation are the newsmakers of the 2012/13 SA racing season with their unparalleled recent record breaking winning streak.

And as if they need any additional competitive edge, they recently invested in compression suits.

Graduated compression means that a greater amount of pressure is applied at the extremities (the lowest point of the leg) and the pressure reduces along the limbs and body.

The technique employed by the design of Hidez animal compression suits assists in forcing vital blood supplies out of the lower limbs, back into circulation and towards the heart.

This process may enhance blood flow and oxygen available to an animal’s muscles.  In addition, the process can speed up the removal of waste products like lactic acids and carbon dioxide, for vital blood supplies.

Good healthy blood supplies ensures recovery from injuries faster, helps in the prevention of injuries by maintaining muscle temperature and reduces muscle fatigue by flushing out ‘bad blood’, which aids in the reduction of delayed onset muscle soreness.

Just like human graduated compression apparel brands, Hidez animal compression suits use a unique muscle focus design when applying pressure to an animal’s skin.

The suit wraps the muscle groups focusing on controlling graduated compression, but also aiding in the reduction of muscle vibrations.

This is very important when animals are travelling. Muscles work extremely hard during travelling, as they vibrate and can overstretch. This can lead to cramping and ultimately travel sickness.

Champion recently retired and undefeated in twenty five starts sprinter Black Caviar’s trainer Peter Moody  said of the suits:

“I was very pleased the way Black Caviar travelled to England in her Hidez suit. She lost hardly any weight on her long flight from Australia which helped me train her without any alteration to my original plan.”

Dr. Peter Angus said:

“As the veterinarian for Black Caviar and accompanying her on the flight from Melbourne to the UK I was extremely impressed with the compression suit that was used on her for the trip. Throughout the flight she was very comfortable and her body temperature remained stable all the way. There was no sign of sweating and on removal of the suit at Heathrow I was delighted that her legs had no swelling at all and felt cool and tight.

I felt that the compression suit used on Black Caviar enabled her to reach the UK in peak condition and if I was flying more horses overseas I would highly recommend the use of this compression suit to give the horse the best chance of arriving in the best possible physical shape. The suit also appears to aid recovery after exercise.”
