Singapore this Friday

Friday 6 July

A mixed surface meeting and while there should be some terrific racing on the turf, the feature event is on the all-weather Polytrack and the Yew Tee Classic Stakes (race 7) looks a beauty.
The $150,000 condition weight event over 1800m has FLYING FULTON at the top of the weights and given he doesn’t give that much away for a significant rating advantage; he is the one to beat.
Add the fact he is in top form in elite company, has two Polytrack features to his name in 2012 and has drawn favourable in gate six, the race does looks his for the taking.
But the win is far from a given with some handy types in BLACK ICE and FLYING WEST in form and sure to be thereabouts come the business end.
Throw in FATKID – a winner at Group WFA level – and the vastly improved and often underrated MITRE PEAK in what looks a suitable race and the Yew Tee Classic is definitely a race to watch.
Elsewhere on the card a couple of raced newcomers in ENCOSTA DIABLO (New Zealand) and SPYDER (Argentina) are expected to get support and race accordingly in races nine and ten respectively.
Both have trailed well since arriving and although both find themselves in competitive fields, first up wins with some welcome early prizemoney for connections would not surprise.

.

Best Bets; FLYING FULTON (race 7, win), U GOT IT (race 9, value), PROBO CHANDROSO (race 6, value).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 7 (1, 3, 5 and 7), race 8 (3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 12), race 9 (1, 2, 3, 4 and 10) and race 10 (1, 2, 4 and 5).

Race 1

Selections; 1 MOEROCK – 2 SUCCESS WINNIE – 5 ALPHA INFINITY – 10 KUTI KUTI
A very weak maiden over 1400m on turf starts off proceedings. MOEROCK is resuming from a short break and has been placed in the first four in four of his six starts; most of which have been in Class 4. If anywhere near fit he should be much too good for this field. SUCCESS WINNIE ran over an unsuitable distance last start, she too was performing well in Class 4 prior to that and this distance suits. KUTI KUTI has performed well over this distance in Maiden Class before and this is not a strong event. ALPHA INFINITY will be suited by turf and the 1400m; he should be on the pace all the way. ONEPLUSZERO ONE has no weight, possesses speed and is well drawn; he could get an easy run in front. If the emergency GOLFER gets a start his New Zealand form was good enough to win this race. AL-HAMID and MR COOL MAN are not the worst and the other emergency ETERNAL FLY with four placings in 29 starts has a chance if he gets a start.

.
1 MOEROCK *** Resuming after a short let-up. Last three efforts have been good enough to win this – should be on the pace all the way. 2.40
2 SUCCESS WINNIE *** Not far away in unsuitable race last start, blinkers and tongue tie go on. Previous form in higher class sound and should race well. 4.00
3 FANSOM * Blinkers on but shown nothing in four starts. 50
4 AL-HAMID * Unplaced in 6 starts but best efforts have been on turf. 20
5 ALPHA INFINITY ** Last two efforts have been over unsuitable distances, ran 3rd over 1400m on turf three starts back. Could show up. 8.00
6 SUPERNATURAL POWER * Been beaten more than 10 lengths in every one of his 9 starts. No. 50
7 FREEDOM MAN * Coming back in distance but not been placed in 12 starts. 50
8 JACK THE BULL * Not been placed in 14 starts, though has trialed OK from time to time. 50
9 TRAP * Best efforts have been on turf over this distance but a record of two placings in 19 starts does not inspire confidence. 33
10 KUTI KUTI ** Suited this distance on turf, recent form sound and gets his chance in this weak field. 5.00
11 ONEPLUSZERO ONE ** Blinkers off, only placing was on turf, has speed, no weight and is well drawn. Could give plenty of cheek. 8.00
12 MR COOL MAN * Last start OK but 24 starts for one placing is a damning statistic. 50
13 ETERNAL FLY * Remains a maiden after 29 starts but best efforts have been on turf over this trip. 20
14 GOLFER *** Will be improved by first Singapore outing in Class 4 and form in New Zealand good enough to win in this weak field. 5.00

.
Race 2

Selections; 1 SMART IDEA – 12 MUSKETEER – 10 CHAMPAGNE ROSE – 9 WAR TIME
A much higher quality field of maidens than in the previous event with depth rarely seen in this type of affair. SMART IDEA has not had much luck at his three starts, he is drawn out a bit but Ivaldo Santana should be able get him just behind the pace and hopefully not caught too wide. In fact he should have won last start and can make amends with luck in running. MUSKETEER has been runner-up at four of its only five starts with three of those occasions being over this trip on turf. He will be up disputing the pace and with Alan Munro steering will be given every chance to break through. Leslie Khoo has WAR TIME engaged who ran an excellent race on debut on this track and distance. The stable mate NOTIPNOTIPS ran a similarly good race albeit on the Polytrack over a shorter trip. Both horses should go well. XAVIO put in a solid effort last start from a wide barrier; he is poorly drawn again but should be running on solidly at the finish. CHAMPAGNE ROSE was supported at her last outing and while her best form has been on the Poly, the 1400m looks ideal and she could show up. Both POSITIVE THINKING and RISK FACTOR are coming back in trip, but their recent form is good enough to merit consideration.

.
1 SMART IDEA *** Was blocked and ran on well last start, previous form consistent and hard to beat. 4.50
2 POSITIVE THINKING *** Sat on the pace and fought on well last start – a bit one-paced and might like it longer but was placed over this distance on turf three starts back. 12
3 XAVIO *** Good effort two starts back and put in a solid run last start from a wide gate. Far from the worst and could be terrific value – keep safe. 12
4 FAITHFUL WARRIOR * Resuming. Best form has been on the Polytrack but distance should suit. 25
5 DRAGON ** Has not been too far away at last two starts but bad barrier no help. 33
6 RISK FACTOR ** Blinkers on, decent effort last start over 1700m, coming back in distance but could show up. 14
7 NOTIPNOTIPS *** Nice effort with support at debut. Should be near the lead all the way from the good gate and worth a good look. 10
8 PENSAMIENTO ** Blinkers on after being well supported last start and flopping badly. Could improve. 20
9 WAR TIME *** Nice effort at first start over this distance on turf. From strong stable and should be hard to beat. Stable mate of NOTIPNOTIPS. 4.50
10 CHAMPAGNE ROSE *** Winkers on after placing with support last start. Step to 1400m looks ideal – big show. 10
11 DESTINATION GOLD * Blinkers on, debut effort encouraging but ordinary run last start, could be improved. 33
12 MUSKETEER *** Runner-up at four of only five starts, should sit on the speed and be right in the finish again. 3.80
13 KTRONIC ** Gets back and runs on, chance if he gets a start. 16
14 TIGER TZAR ** Blinkers off. Will be improved from first start and 1400m looks a good move. 33

.
Race 3

Selections; 9 RISING EMPIRE – 2 WOJCINSKI – 1 BLACK JACK – 6 ACE ARMANDO
A very open Class 4 on the turf and with that in mind we may have a good look – as will others – at the only 2YO in the field, RISING EMPIRE. The youngster smashed them in his Maiden then ran a respectable race in the Golden Horseshoe – he is a promising and although a risk against Open aged horses, he should be well in this class. He might come in for plenty of support but pay to follow. WOJCINSKI finds himself back on turf, well drawn and over a suitable distance. Dan Beasley has won on him before and from barrier two he is certain to give plenty of cheek. BLACK JACK has a good first-up record; he will have benefited from a recent barrier trial and should be running on strongly at the end. ACE ARMANDO is suited by the Class, surface, distance and from barrier 3, Jose Verenzuela should have him prominent and he could run on well. THAT’STHEONE is drawn wide but he has speed and if he can get on the back of the pace could be challenging in the straight. EATON’S GOLD can be a problem at the start but if on his best behaviour is up to this field. RAVOUX put in an ordinary one last start when caught wide, he is better than that and Alan Munro should give him every chance. BOURBON NIGHT also flopped last start after a good maiden win; he has speed and should be prominent, but must be taken on trust on turf. The emergency, STUB put in a better effort last start, he will be better suited on turf and could be running into form.

.
1 BLACK JACK *** Resuming but usually goes well fresh and with blinkers added bound to race well. 4.50
2 WOJCINSKI *** Speedster who is much better on turf and bound to give a sight from the good alley in Class 4 company. 12
3 EATONS GOLD ** Blinkers off. Risky at barrier and poorly drawn but on best behaviour not without a chance. 14
4 RAVOUX ** Put in a shocker last start though previous form was consistent. Bad barrier no help. 12
5 BOURBON NIGHT ** Poor effort last start after good maiden win. Has speed but must be taken on trust on turf. 10
6 ACE ARMANDO *** Nicely drawn and with Verenzuela to steer should be on the pace all the way. 20
7 EXCITING AHEAD * Won three starts back but better suited on Polytrack. 33
8 BABY FACE * Winkers on, usually thereabouts and rarely runs a bad race. 20
9 RISING EMPIRE *** Smashed them on debut, and then ran respectable race in Golden Horseshoe. Smart 2YO who could go well. despite awkward draw. 2.50
10 THAT’STHEONE ** Poorly drawn but has speed and is usually thereabouts. 16
11 FIFTH DAN ** Races well on turf but would prefer 1400m or a mile. 16
12 DEN ** Racing in good form though Class rise may be too much. 16
13 STUB ** Better effort last start and could be running into form. Chance if he gets a start. 20
14 DUTY FREE * Maiden. Not here. 100

.

Race 4

Selections; 6 DAN NOBLE – 2 RECIPROCATE – 1 BEAUTIFUL WORLD – 12 WHO ELS
A Class 5 over the mile on the Polytrack is always an open affair and this is no exception. Leslie Khoo has the proven performer DAN NOBLE engaged and whilst he has been taking his time to knock in a Class 5 win this time back, he gets his chance here, assuming he can follow on from his solid third placing last start. RECIPROCATE won with some dash last start and his form this time in has been very good, if he can repeat the effort he has a strong chance again. Also with winning form is BEAUTIFUL WORLD and Class 5 is in his favour today to knock in back-to-back wins. WHO ELS is way down in the ratings, he gets back but is always running on; this is not a strong field and could be the one charging home. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN is very hard to catch but his only two wins have been with blinkers and a strong rider – he gets that tonight with the in-form Saifudin steering. EQUIENCE battles away over the mile but he needs a strong speed in the race early. BEAUTIFUL WORLD won a weak maiden last start and must have some chance again, and TIEN CHAI ran his best race for some time last start, and now has Greg Cheyne taking the mount. SAVVY AS and QUI EST LA are one’s to consider for the exotics. If the emergency CHEVY gets a run he too will be very hard to beat, dropping from Kranji Stakes Class C to Class 5 in one go.

.
1 BEAUTIFUL WORLD *** Won a weak maiden last start, but with Shafiq’s claim could go on with it here. 6.00
2 RECIPROCATE *** Any chance a good gate? Showed plenty of dash when it counted to win last start and has been racing well this preparation. Good chance again. 3.50
3 SAVVY AS ** Battled on well when resuming, maiden who has failed at every attempt on the Polytrack and at the mile. 12
4 QUI EST LA ** Usually runs on and may be suited by the mile. Keep safe. 12
5 TOP ASIA * No form. 50
6 DAN NOBLE *** Nine time winner who loves this Class and trip. Well weighted and top chance. 3.50
7 STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN ** Hard to follow but only two wins have been with blinkers and a senior rider. 12
8 TIEN CHAI ** Ran his best race for a while last start and has a top rider taking the mount. 12
9 JACK * Ordinary effort last start but does show up from time to time. 33
10 EQUIENCE * Battler who needs a solid speed to show his best. 25
11 AMERICAN TYCOON * Battles away but prefer others. 25
12 WHO ELS *** Gets back and runs on, always a danger late. 10
13 VAN BASTEN * Not racing well 50
14 CHEVY *** Dropping from Kranji Stakes Class C, when last in Class 5 won two on end – big chance if he gets a start. 3.50

.
Race 5

Selections; 2 DEVONSHIRE – 3 JUST DASHING – 8 GOLD RUN – 7 GOLDEN DOMINATOR
Another extremely tricky Class 4 over 1800m on turf where tactics will play a big part. There has always been a bit of a wrap about DEVONSHIRE and he was placed at Class 3 level at his last start – the 1800m looks like it will suit him and he can be expected to run well. JUST DASHING put in a good effort in this Class and distance two starts back to beat STEADFAST WARRIOR, that form would be good enough for this race, and with Danny Beasley steering he should be right in the finish. GOLD RUN is racing in fine form and whilst on trial at the distance gives the impression he will handle it without difficulty. As will GOLDEN DOMINATOR who is coming off a maiden win and the step up to 1800m looks ideal. There was a lot to like about TERRA FIRMA’s win in much weaker company, he is lightly raced and could be an improver with no weight and Zuriman’s claim he may try to lead all the way. Likewise URBAN DANCER could go forward and try to dictate. There are plenty of other chances with VAYA CONDIOS coming off a good win but up in weight and on trial at the distance, CANSAVE who has good form over this type of trip in Australia, and PADDY O’REILLY who will certainly go well for the in-form Barend Vorster.

.
1 VAYA CONDIOS ** Won well last start at third run back from let-up, on trial at the distance and up in weight but should race well. 12
2 DEVONSHIRE *** Good effort in Class 3 last start, has always shown promise and if he can get the trip, hard to beat. 3.80
3 JUST DASHING *** Suited this distance and Class, will be running over the top of them late. Good chance. 4.20
4 URBAN DANCER ** Not the most reliable and generally goes best when ridden forward. 12
5 CANSAVE ** Reasonable effort last start and placed several times this trip in similar races in Queensland. Watch for support. 14
6 MAGIC MOMENT ** Won three starts back on this surface so while last two efforts only fair could run a cheeky race. 20
7 GOLDEN DOMINATOR *** Good effort to win maiden last start and step up to 1800n looks no problem – follow. 20
8 GOLD RUN *** Racing in top form and whilst unknown at the distance expect a bold sight. 5.50
9 PADDY O’REILLY ** Well drawn with top rider. Has not been successful beyond a mile. 14
10 TERRA FIRMA ** Capped off good recent form with strong maiden win. Lightly raced and could go on with it here with the light weight. 12
11 CARTAGO * Has been disappointing since coming from Australia where he had form in events similar to this. Could improve. particularly if there is rain. 20
12 IRISH FLASH ** Good battling win last start in Class 5. One pacer who will want plenty of speed in the race. 14
13 GUIDED LIGHT *** Racing in good form. Strong chance if he gets into the field. 14
14 THE RUDE WARRIOR ** Good effort last time and far from the worst if he gets a run. 20

.
Race 6

Selections; 1 PROBO CHANDROSO – 8 VERSAILLES PALACE – 10 LIGHTNING ACE – 4 THAT’S CASH
The first emergency, SPECIAL ACCOUNT, must get a mention early as he will probably start favourite if he gets a run and looks right in the winning mix on form. But of those with guaranteed starts in what looks a weak Class 5 field, I think we have a long look at the Class dropper, PROBO CHANDROSO, who by rights should win in this company. The two-time Poly winner started a shade under 3-1 two starts back in Class 4 company and while disappointing of late, he should win in this field on ability alone. The tote might be a fair guide for PROBO CHANDROSO as it will be for VERSAILLES PALACE from the astute Leslie Khoo stable. The 4YO American-bred gelding has been disappointing with support previously but very much appreciates the first up tough run and the inside gate today so look for a bold run. With value and the old adage of ‘one last chance’, I will also be keeping LIGHTNING ACE safe. The form reads badly but a solid claim, a nice gate and winkers added suggests he could show up in a race he should have been doing better in. Of the rest, THAT’S CASH and WONDER GENERAL pick themselves with DECISIVE and MR VANTASTIC in the exotic mix.

.
1 PROBO CHANDROSO *** Last start Ok considering significant drop to Class 5 and wins if anywhere near his best. 4.00
2 TOP HAPPINESS * Last start win over longer and happy to wait for another suitable race. 33
3 EXPECTATION * Disappointing. 50
4 THAT’S CASH *** Was at his best to win last start and pay to follow although tough from wide gate in this field. 8.00
5 WONDER GENERAL *** Always a show in this type of race and should be in this a very long way. 4.00
6 WINNING DAN ** Form starting to read badly but the type to keep safe in exotics in what looks weak field. 20
7 ROLLTHEDICE * Got up at bolters odds last start over the mile and might need that trip. 33
8 VERSAILLES PALACE *** Appreciates what was a tough first up run plus the ace draw today – watch tote and can win. 6.00
9 ROYAL BRAT * Win two starts back over longer and happy to wait for more suitable affair. 33
10 LIGHTNING ACE *** Running out of chances but very much appreciates the weak field, claim and good gate. One more chance with winkers added a factor. 8.00
11 DECISIVE ** Last couple good enough to think he can finish in the place mix here and might be the value. 12
12 MR VANTASTIC ** Still a maiden but usually thereabouts in races like this and a must for exotics. 8.00
13 SPECIAL ACCOUNT *** In good form and probably the one to beat if he gets a start – watch. 4.00
14 ZAC SUPREME *** Wide gate some concern but showed last start he is a horse to follow this type of race. 12

.
Race 7

Selections; 1 FLYING FULTON – 5 FATKID – 7 MITRE PEAK – 3 FLYING WEST
While the race certainly has more to offer than declaring FLYING FULTON the winner, it is hard to go past the 5YO in what looks his race to lose. Already with two Poly features to his name in 2012, FLYING FULTON is easily in best at the race conditions getting 4.5kg off his nearest rival on ratings – FAT KID – and given his super form of late in top company, he is extremely hard to beat. But as mentioned the race has more to offer than that and jockey Jose Verenzuela will have a few horses to keep an eye on including FAT KID, MITRE PEAK, FLYING WEST and BLACK ICE. FAT KID is perhaps the most interesting of the challengers given he has WFA Group credentials to his name and his form suggests a big run is on the cards. I also think MITRE PEAK – one of the most improved horses in Singapore – could go super fresh with the Polytrack certainly in his favour. FLYING WEST picks himself – incredibly honest – with BLACK ICE just going too well to leave out completely. Others in the race – AGENAIS and MARTINCHO CAT to name two – have form but a tough ask at the weights in this company.

.
1 FLYING FULTON *** Excuses last start not to be in the mix and excellent form previously – including Poly wins – has him the one beat with race conditions also in his favour. 2.00
2 BLACK ICE *** Going along in very good order and won two starts back this surface – expect late rails charge. 8.00
3 FLYING WEST *** Narrowly beaten by BLACK ICE last start and a horse that rarely runs a bad race so happy to follow. 5.00
4 QUINTA DE LAGO * Solid but in terribly at the race conditions with 57kg and have to ignore. 33
5 FATKID *** Never looked a chance last start but this looks ideal with 56kg from gate two and can win. 5.00
6 MAURICE UTRILLO * Last start good but only had 50kg similar company that day and bad gate with blinkers removed suggests we can ignore. 33
7 MITRE PEAK *** Form better than it reads and loves the surface – keep safe as racing in good form. 20
8 MARTINCHO CAT ** Backing up after strong win last Friday – this is obviously tougher and place looks a good result. 20
9 SUPER GURU ** First up after finding it tough in the Guineas but won last time on this surface and has plenty of upside as a 3YO. 25
10 DARING FIGHTER * Another coming off a nice enough win in much easier company and should struggle here. 100
11 AGENAIS ** Hard to fault form and coming off a strong win but that was Class 4 so have to lift again. 20
12 KNIGHT’S COMMAND * Poly run two starts back was good but obviously this field is tougher – outside place at best. 100

.
Race 8

Selections; 3 RUNNING TALL – 8 JERAM CLIPPER – 9 CHINESE CULTURE – 4 GOLDEN CURL
This race will offer plenty of value for punters with at least seven horses with winning hopes and a short likely favourite in RUNNING TALL keeping the field at attractive odds. In saying that, Pat Shaw and connections look to have found a perfect race for RUNNING TALL who not only gets in best at the race connections but is over what should be his preferred trip. The 3YO won at Group 2 level in Australia before coming to Singapore and while disappointing not to have won again after scoring on debut, can make amends here. But we love some value and it might pay to look elsewhere on the day with JERAM CLIPPER a good option. Like RUNNING TALL, the two-time winner from Australia won at his Singapore debut before finding it all too hard after doing it tough on the pace second up. He has drawn better today in gate four and can certainly show his best for regular hoop, Danny Beasley. I also think CHINESE CULTURE might get out to very attractive odds and given a slight gear change – winkers on – a nice gate, a very handy 2kg claim and back over his winning trip, the 3YO colt might surprise. Hard to leave out GOLDEN CURL and NATURAL NICE – both big winning hopes – with GUSHA a long-shot hope at the weights.

.
1 GOD’S COBBA * Former Australian who has picked a tough race for Singapore debut – market best guide. 33
2 BLACK WARRIOR * In badly at the weights and prefer most others. 100
3 RUNNING TALL *** Excuses last start and in best at the race conditions so the one to beat with blinkers off. 3.00
4 GOLDEN CURL *** Last start win solid and only real blemish was on a soft track – follow. 4.00
5 NATURAL NICE *** In very solid form and while this is probably a tad tougher than Class 4 he is in good enough at the weights to be right in the finish. 5.00
6 BIGDINERO *** Another in fine form and 1400m looks perfect with gate three a bonus with claimer. 12
7 IRISH COFFEE ** Good effort last time out and had been fighting outside his division previously – keep safe. 12
8 JERAM CLIPPER *** Did it tough enough last start to think we could forgive that run and follow on good debut win. 6.00
9 CHINESE CULTURE *** A tad disappointing last start but blinkers on back in trip a good move and could be the smoky. 20
10 RAFFLES PEGASUS ** Yet to salute in Singapore but always thereabouts and a must for exotics. 33
11 BULLDOZER ** Another who will be competitive but a win would surprise in this good field. 33
12 GUSHA *** Big step up form maiden win but as a 3YO filly she gets in well at the weights – keep safe at likely value. 33
13 BOSS CAN I CAN * No. 200
14 CHIVE BLOOM * Form OK but in shocking at the weights. 100

.
Race 9

Selections; 1 U GOT IT – 3 ENCOSTA DIABLO – 4 SHAOLIN SOLDIER – 10 TRUDEAU
A newcomer with a listed win under his belt, a few smart 3YO’s and an underrated top-weight make this race a very interesting affair. And with value in mind I think the top-weight, U GOT IT, can win back in Kranji Stakes C company. The 6YO gelding has been up against some nice types of late and when you consider he can lead from the nice gate he might prove hard to run down with Freddie Firdaus’ 2kg looking a winning move. The tote is going to a fair guide on the newcomer, ENCOSTA DIABLO. The former won four times in NZ and when you consider one of those was in a listed race and his trials since arriving have been solid, he must be respected. You can make a case for plenty of others with SHAOLIN SOLDIER very much in the mix with TRUDEAU also worth a serious look with blinkers removed and Vorster on-board. The 3YO’s – LET’S SEE ACTION, RUSH and LUCKY XUAN – all should have admirers.

.
1 U GOT IT *** Form reading badly but seriously appreciates this company and looks a big show with nice gate and claim. 10
2 LET’S SEE ACTION *** Smart type who looks well placed first up after finding it tough in the Group 1 Guineas – follow. 4.00
3 ENCOSTA DIABLO *** Listed winner from New Zealand who has trialed well enough to think he can win this Class at Singapore debut. 3.00
4 SHAOLIN SOLDIER *** Always a hope in races like this and will be doing best work late to keep them honest. 5.00
5 KING FAALCON * Needs longer. 100
6 COUNTRY CLUB ** Wont win out of turn but often value and almost always in the mix – follow each way. 12
7 POLAR ESPRIT ** Smart type resuming after near-on a year off racing – market best guide. 20
8 TROPICAL FOREST * Better option on the Poly in this company. 50
9 RUSH ** Resuming and while form was starting to read badly and drawn wide, he goes very well on his day and recent trial suggests he has something to offer. 20
10 TRUDEAU *** Work late good enough last start to follow with blinkers removed. 20
11 LUCKY XUAN ** Hard to fault winning form but has found a very tough race so would need to improve again. 8.00
12 LUCKY RISE ** In great form two runs this campaign but this field will test him. 33
13 NO RESPITE ** Always a solid each way hope and can follow. 20
14 RAGING STORM ** Another who looks an each way hope if he gets a start. 20

.
Race 10

Selections; 5 GOODPACK – 4 ASCLEPIUS – 2 SPYDER – 1 RIO FORTUNE
A couple of promising types in ASCLEPIUS and GOODPACK – meet for the second time in their short careers and given there was nothing between the pair on debut they look hard to split today. ASCLEPIUS won that day but given GOODPACK was supported and then backed up that good run with a strong win, he is the early pick. But nothing between them and I would expect both to be supported with another 3YO, SPYDER, also in the betting and not without a strong chance at his Singapore debut. In fact the former Argentinean looks well placed in Class 4 and with a couple of nice trials under his belt could even start favourite. The tote will be a good guide – one could some in for very heavy support – and that might be as good as guide as any. Of the rest I will be having a ‘saver’ on the Class dropper, RIO FORTUNE. After winning early in his Singapore career in Class 3, he finally drops to what looks a suitable grade given his recent form and a big run is on the cards.

.
1 RIO FORTUNE *** Form just fair with only one recent placing but very much appreciates Class 4 and 2kg clam and can win with luck from awkward draw. 10
2 SPYDER *** Former Argentinean with who looks well placed in Class 4 for Singapore debut and trials well enough to think he can win with support likely. 3.00
3 DAZZLING KIND ** Disappointing at Singapore debut but improves for the outing and will add value to exotics. 20
4 ASCLEPIUS *** Won what looked a strong Restricted maiden and will have support to win again. 3.50
5 GOODPACK *** Backed up close-up placing behind ASCLEPIUS with a good win and another to follow. 3.50
6 KALLISAN ** Wide gate an issue but very much appreciates suitable company and pay to keep safe. 20
7 COOL CAT * Back in trip to find form. Not for me. 50
8 SUPER AHEAD ** Blinkers back off after just a fair run and pay to keep safe as he will win this company. 20
9 HOOPER ** Blinkers straight back on after poor effort – should be competitive. 12
10 LUCKY DIAMOND ** Form better than it reads and should improve again back on the turf. 50
11 STATE TROOPER * Blinkers on but impossible on form. 100
12 SEACREST * Reassess easier/longer. 100
13 SAHORO * Headgear off and while recent run OK he needs shorter and easier. 50
14 SUPER STAR * Needs easier and longer. 100

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
