Everyone loves a winner. GOT LUCK certainly falls under that category after winning his first three career starts. The NZ-bred 4YO burst onto the Singapore racing scene with a commanding three length win as the odds-on punters elect in June, before doing it tough at his second start to win by a length. Oscar Chavez – onboard for his first two wins – was unavailable at his third start, so it was up to Danny Beasley to keep the winning streak alive which he did with aplomb. Oscar jumps back on-board on Sunday in the OB74 event (race 8) over 1000m on the Poly and while the field is strong with some combined 27 Poly sprint wins, GOT LUCK might be too good. Hopefully punters come away smiling as it could get a lot tougher in the next race with most – if not all – having a winning chance in a KSC 1800m event on the turf. With the likes of DARIAN GAP and MUSKETEER looking at solid Gold Cup campaigns, it might be FREEZEMASTER who appreciates the company and surprises at odds. With only one unsuccessful run over 1800m to his name, he might be ignored by punters but with a solid run in Group company at his last start, he might be ready to show he is up to the trip. A great race and go very wide in exotics.

Race 8
Selections; 5 GOT LUCK – 4 FLASH GIFT – 1 SOUTHERN BOSS – 3 BM WIN
No rest for the wicked in this Poly sprint with potential top-liners GOT LUCK – undefeated in three – and FLASH GIFT likely to dominate proceedings. GOT LUCK gets regular hoop, Oscar Chavez, back after the Danroad 4YO was more than capably handled by Dan Beasley at his last start. Given that win looked comfortable in a nice enough time, you would imagine he is more than capable stepping up to this company and looks the one to beat. It is worth noting that FLASH GIFT started his career in a similar vein to GOT LUCK with three straight wins. His unbeaten run came to halt two starts back but he certainly lost no friends at his two subsequent runs and looks right in this with regular hoop, Greg Cheyne, back in the saddle. But given both these horses – especially GOT LUCK – will get plenty of punter support, there will be value and happy to follow SOUTHERN BOSS at odds after a nice trial with SUPER KENNY also one to watch after some super trial form. SAND LANE, BM WIN and the consistent MACHFIVE also in the mix.
1 SOUTHERN BOSS *** Form better than it reads and appreciates the company and nice recent trial. Value. 25
2 KAISER * Resuming, pushed out at recent trial and hard to have on what we saw last campaign. 33
3 BM WIN *** In form and last start win too strong not to think he is up to this company. 6.00
4 FLASH GIFT *** Disappointing last start as odds on pop but gets regular hoop back and can win. 3.50
5 GOT LUCK *** Very impressive winning three-from-three and also gets regular hoop back. Hard to beat. 2.00
6 MACHFIVE ** Solid and well worth including in exotics at value. 20
7 MAPLE STAR ** Resuming after long break and might need the run but recent trial OK. 100
8 SAND LANE *** Drawn badly again but always a show and pay to follow. 12
9 SUPER KENNY *** Resuming and trialing like he enjoyed the break so keep very safe. 8.00
10 INDULGE * Needs Class 4. 200
11 SUPER STRIKE * Also needs it easier. 200

Race 9
Selections; 1 FREEZEMASTER – 6 MUSKETEER – 8 EISENHEIM – 4 MEAISIN
FREEZEMASTER beat the now retired Gold Cup and Derby winner, Better Life, this time last year. That was over a mile and given the 6YO looks to be getting back to some form at his first campaign back in Singapore after a Dubai trip, he could step up and win over 1800m. The company obviously suits, so coming off a Group run in his favour and hopefully he starts at each-way odds. In his favour is the fact nothing jumps off the page to win this. MUSKETEER and DARIEN GAP both come into this also running into form after Derby campaigns. Both will appreciate the step up to 1800m and while MUSKETEER probably gets more support in this and should go well, both are horses to follow to the Gold Cup in November. MEAISIN is the form horse and might be value given he steps up in trip and EISENHEIM is also one to follow while in winning form.
1 FREEZEMASTER *** Form reads only fair but suitable race with claim suggest he is worth a serious look. 12
2 ENCOSTA DIABLO ** Only battled last start but the type that works into this late. 10
3 DARIEN GAP *** Appreciates first run after Derby and step up in trip. Follow. 8.00
4 MEAISIN *** In-form and gives every indication that the trip wont be an issue. 4.50
5 DON PLATENSE ** Improved effort at his last start and can include in exotics. 12
6 MUSKETEER *** Well beaten last start but up in trip in his favour and pay to follow towards Gold Cup. 3.00
7 TANGIBLE ASSETS ** Form reads badly but appreciates first-up run and not the worst at odds. 20
8 EISENHEIM *** Started to hit his straps in Singapore winning two from last three and can win. 3.50
9 OVER EASY ** Form reads badly but back to a winning trip is in his favour at odds. 50

Race 10
Selections; 1 GARATTA KID – 4 KTRONIC – 5 NORTH STAR – 8 URBAN LEGEND
Barring the fact he is still a maiden, GARATTA KID should really be a good thing in this. In his favour, apart from excellent form and a weak field, is the fact he has only had seven career starts, so is a relative newcomer to Class 5 company and should have a better future than most of these. Likewise, NORTH STAR is a lightly raced maiden who comes into this with good form and has some upside. Munro-san rides for Takaoka-san and if he gets any luck from a bad gate, he goes close. A horse that could beat the pair is a two-time winner in KTRONIC. Although coming off a bad run, KTRONIC has been jumping from some bad gates so expect improvement from a better barrier. URBAN LEGEND is a worry but looks the only other one to consider in what is a weak field.
1 GARATTA KID *** Maiden with foot well and truly on the till and looks hardest to beat in this. 2.00
2 IRO OTOKO ** Disappointing last start but excuses start and could surprise if handy early. 8.00
3 GOLDEN FRIENDS ** Ignore last start as usually thereabouts and appreciates gate one. 8.00
4 KTRONIC *** Form better than it reads given some bad gates and pay to keep safe in what is a suitable race. 5.00
5 NORTH STAR *** Gate an issue but steadily improving and coming off his best run. 6.00
6 RISKY VENTURE ** Downgrade to winkers and thereabouts late in what is a suitable race. 20
7 CARRY ON FAMOUS * Started long odds with Moreira last start. Passing. 200
8 URBAN LEGEND *** Form was hopeless but last start good in similar affair and could be odds. 33
9 RICH BORN ** Should lead and while cheeky run expected, might be found wanting late over 1900m. 20
10 RISK FACTOR * Thereabouts on a good day but exotics looks best. 33
11 MY FIELD * Hard to have. 200
12 DESERT VIKING * No. 200
13 CLASSIC THUNDER ** Disappointing last start but gets home OK as a rule. 33
14 NEWFOUNDFAME * Hard to have. 200

Race 11
Selections; 3 BEAUTY HARMONY – 8 SMART IDEA – 6 MR ARMSTRONG – 4 BLUE LION
MAL’S DAD probably starts favourite and with a good maiden win over 1400m backing up some solid form, maybe rightly so. The race doesn’t look strong – that is in his favour – but jumping from gate 12 might make him worth the risk at short odds so happy to look elsewhere. BEAUTY HARMONY might be the value. The Darci Brahma 5YO has had three starts in Singapore for no placings but given he has looked to be on the improve, he might be ready to win over the mile with blinkers removed. SMART IDEA looks a big winning show as well. The two-time winner has been in good form of late – placing at his last two – and given he has won over this trip/surface/grade, he is worth a serious look. BLUE LION and MR ARMSTRONG also look some hope in what is a very tricky affair for punters.
1 LITTLE BUT FIERCE ** Competitive and mile sans blinkers OK but wide gate makes winning tough. 12
2 HONEST TRUTH ** Made the running last start and while well beaten, could hang on for a place here. 50
3 BEAUTY HARMONY *** Excuses last start not to finish closer and worth serious look here with blinkers removed. 8.00
4 BLUE LION *** Ran on well and not far away last start and plays a part in this with winkers on. 6.50
5 MAL’S DAD *** Broke maiden status with support last start and pay to follow. 4.00
6 MR ARMSTRONG *** Showed enough last start on turf to follow with mile ideal. 8.00
7 LION BAROWS ** Very disappointing last start and back in trip but only win was over mile and drawn to advantage. 20
8 SMART IDEA *** In form and recent win was in similar affair. Big show. 3.00
9 AFFIRMATION ** Not far away last start and always worth keeping safe. 20
10 MAGNIFICENT KID * No. 200
11 WARRIOR ** Coming off a very solid run similar affair but like to see in Class 5. 20
12 TAKIS ** Not seen often on the turf and close to Class 5 but the type to keep safe. 20
