After the extravaganza that was the $3.05 million CEFC Singapore Cup last Sunday, this meeting looks vanilla at best. But while a Kranji Stakes C sprint (race 10) is the best race on paper, the fields are so even there is likely to be some value to be found in most races so be prepared for each-way betting. Or better still we can hopefully land a exotic bet or two with the Jackpot (finding the winner of the last four races) one that could pay a “motza”.

In the first leg – Race 8 a Class 4 Poly sprint over 1100m – CLIP THE TICKET may be one horse we could use as a banker. The 3YO does need a result while in form but given he has been running into some nice types since winning his maiden four starts back and finds himself in a weak Class 4 field, it is his to lose. RIKIOH and SECRET MISSION two to keep safe.

Unfortunately there is no such luxury to go skinny in the second leg – a Class 5 mile – and in no particular order, the likes of AGELESS, GRAND VITESS, RAVOUX, ENCOSTA ZONE, PEREGRINE FALCON and the first emergency, CAN’T TOUCH ME, can all win.

Leg 3 is the best race on the card and while you could narrow it down to SNITZEL SPIRIT and TOUCH ME NOT, it might pay to keep MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS and LIKA TIGER safe and if the budgets permits include the last start winners in SECRET LIBERTY and NORTH ATLANTIC ICE.

You can tick the field box in the last leg but again, hopefully we can again narrow it down to three or four with BLACK SNOW, BHASKARA and YOU DA ONE the main fancies.

Best Bets; (CLIP THE TICKET race 8, win), (ENCOSTA ZONE race 9, each-way) and (PINT SIZED PRINCE race 11, value).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 8 (1, 2 and 7), race 9 (1, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 15), race 10 (1, 6, 9 and 10), race 11 (1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11).

Race 8

Selections; 7 CLIP THE TICKET – 2 RIKIOH – 1 SECRET MISSION – 3 YIN JIE
Another weak race, a Class 4 over 1100m on the poly and CLIP THE TICKET will not get a better chance to knock in his second win. His only win was on turf but he has been placed at his only two poly runs – in OK company. The 3YO is consistent and should be handy throughout with winkers added. GOLDEN MISSION also gets his chance; he is yet to win in Singapore but is down in grade and suited this trip and surface. Manoel Nunes and blinkers will help further. RIKIOH is resuming but he is trialing well; he has always shown some promise but has only one win to his credit. YIN JIE and XIN TREASURE rarely win but can show up in this grade. THE SITUATION is resuming and gets Michael Rodd; he could show up.

1 SECRET MISSION *** Blinkers on. Yet to win in Singapore but down in grade and suited this trip and surface. 4.00
2 RIKIOH *** Resuming. Has shown promise and goes OK first-up so have o consider. 6.00
3 YIN JIE ** Excuses last start for failure (roarer) and usually thereabouts but rarely wins. 6.00
4 ALASAMO * Best form is over longer. 33
5 THE SITUATION ** Resuming. Has placed this surface and could show up. Watch for support. 6.00
6 QUEEN’S SEVEN * Tongue tie on. Won Maiden at 1150m in Japan. Yet to show up in two outings. 33
7 CLIP THE TICKET *** Winkers on. Needs a result but this looks suitable and gets his chance. 4.00
8 HAPPY HAPPY ** Resuming. Form poor last campaign but recent trial OK so look for improvement. 20
9 CITY OF SAILS * Has struggled since winning maiden but has speed and could show up. 33
10 XIN TREASURE ** Battles away and can often show up in these. 10
11 OASIS SPUR * May want easier. 33
12 PURE RABID * Can find easier. 33
13 GOLDEN RABBIT * Has speed is usually found wanting late. 20
14 RAINBOW STAR * Wants easier. 33

Race 9

Selections; 10 PEREGRINE FALCON – 1 AGELESS – 8 ENCOSTA ZONE – 6 RAVOUX
Another ordinary race – a Class 5 over 1600m – with Stephen Gray having three of the top chances. The blinkers go on GRAND VITESS who drops in grade and is suited by this distance. RAVOUX is racing well in this grade but 1600m can be his limit. To round off the trio AFTERNOON DELIGHT has won three times at 1400m but yet to place in four attempts at the mile. The one to upset matters may be Leslie Khoo’s PEREGRINE FALCON’s whose best runs have been on turf; the mile should suit and he has Manoel Nunes from the ace. Of the others, the blinkers helped GLOBAL FOCUS last start and he could go on with it; AGELESS is an honest Maiden who has placed three times from five starts at the trip and GOLDEN ROSEWOOD who ran well at his last attempt at a mile in this Grade could show up. The emergency TOUCH ME NOT is proven at this level and will make his presence felt if he gets a start and ENCOSTA ZONE gets an upgrade to M Rodd which is significant.

1 AGELESS *** Blinkers off. Maiden who has placed three from five at this trip and will find this easier than last start. 5.00
2 ALL MY WAY ** On trial at this distance and gets upgrade to blinkers. Keep safe. 33
3 DR N WING FIGHTERS ** Maiden who battles away and can include in exotics. 33
4 FOREVER BEST * Yet to place in six outings but looks a log so distance may suit. 33
5 GRAND VITESS *** Blinkers on. Drops in grade and suited this distance. Will be hard to hold off. 5.00
6 RAVOUX *** Has been around the mark recently but 1600m is his limit. 5.00
7 AFTERNOON DELIGHT ** Visor on. Has won three times at 1400m but yet to place in four attempts at 1600m. 14
8 ENCOSTA ZONE *** Battles away but only win was at this journey and gets significant riding change. 14
9 GLOBAL FOCUS ** Blinkers helped last start and could be suited at 1600m. Could show up. 12
10 PEREGRINE FALCON *** Best runs have been on turf, the mile should suit and has Nunes from the ace. 5.00
11 THREE WHIP * Needs to improve. 50
12 ANGE D’ORIENT ** Battles away and could show up at this trip. 20
13 KTRONIC ** Recent win this trip but can disappoint. 33
14 GOLDEN ROSEWOOD ** Suited this surface and distance and did enough last start to follow. 12
15 CAN’T TOUCH ME *** Suited this grade, surface and distance. Should be handy throughout. 14
16 OCEAN STORY * Yet to place in nine outings. 50

Race 10

Selections; 9 SNITZEL SPIRIT – 6 TOUCH ME NOT – 1 MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS – 10 LIKA TIGER
A KSC over 1200m and SNITZEL SPIRIT was solid when resuming and is better suited on turf. Manoel Nunes will give him every chance from gate 4 and he could be the testing material. There will be plenty of speed from MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS with a 2kg clam for Zuriman who find this easier than last outing and should give a sight. The other speed horse is TOUCH ME NOT who was used up early and returned with a cardiac irregularity last start. He was three from-three prior to that and he can help set a strong tempo. This will suit LIKA TIGER who got bumped and lost momentum last start; he should be running on late. Of the others Laurie Laxon’s pair IDEAL GUIDE and MAGICAL TALENT are probably being set for later events but can race well whilst fresh.

1 MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS *** Will find this easier than last outing and should give a sight. 5.00
2 MUSKETEER * Blinkers off. Wants longer. 33
3 IDEAL GUIDE ** Solid when resuming. Might want longer but can give a sight. 6.00
4 GUARICANA * Well beaten at last two outings and needs to improve. 25
5 MAGICAL TALENT ** Resuming. Ran well in some big races last preparation and could show up fresh. Trialling nicely. 10
6 TOUCH ME NOT *** Was used up early and returned with cardiac irregularity last start. Should give a sight. 6.00
7 AMAZEALOT ** Struggled at this level last start and may want Class 4. 20
8 SICHUAN RULER * Has not won for a long time but is getting down in the ratings. 33
9 SNITZEL SPIRIT *** Solid when resuming and better suited on turf. Should race well. 5.00
10 LIKA TIGER *** Got bumped late and lost momentum last start. Should be running on late. 6.00
11 SECRET LIBERTY ** Has speed and will give a sight. Class may test. 20
12 NORTH ATLANTIC ICE ** Won well last start but this grade may test. 12
13 MACHFIVE * No. 50

Race 11

Selections; 2 BLACK SNOW – 5 BHASKARA – 6 YOU DA ONE – 11 PINT SIZED PRINCE
A strong Class 4 over 1200m finishes the programme. Cliff Brown has an outstanding record over both 1400m and oddly, winning the last race. The affable Aussie handler has two strong chances with YOU DA ONE who rarely runs poorly but battles to win and GOLD DANCER who should improve over his favourite trip. BLACK SNOW races well in this grade and should be in the finish for young Zawari. The blinker pacifiers come off HE’S A STRIKER who disappointed last start but gets Manoel Nunes; his previous form was consistent and is suited here. MEAISIN has been close up at his past two outings, he should be in the finish. A progressive type in BHASKARA won well last start and is a horse to follow. PINT SIZED PRINCE one to include at value after excuses last start.

1 GOLD DANCER *** Recent form poor but suited this Class, trip and surface. 10
2 BLACK SNOW *** Races well in this grade and should be in the finish. 6.00
3 BREMNER ** Won twice in UK up to a mile. Trials fairly. Watch for support. 12
4 HE’S A STRIKER *** Blinker pacifiers off. Disappointed last start but gets Nunes. Previous form was consistent and suited here. 4.00
5 BHASKARA *** Broke through in fine style last start. Up in grade but distance suits. Should race well. 8.00
6 YOU DA ONE *** Blinkers back on. Rarely far away but struggles to win. Could break through. 6.00
7 MEAISIN *** Close up at past two outings and should be in the finish. 6.00
8 CALLIDE RIVER * Tested in this. 33
9 WOW ** Blinkers off. Not a mile off them last start and will be value. 10
10 BENJI’S EMPIRE ** Will lead them up but likely to be run down. 16
11 PINT SIZED PRINCE *** Excuses last start similar affair an each-way look at value. 33
12 BIGCAT RHAPSODY * This is too hard. 50
