Raise No Doubt wins in Singapore on 09-03-14

RAISE NO DOUBT goes better than most. And while he arrived in Singapore with the record of only one placing from three starts, the unplaced runs were in very nice juvenile company in Australia and there were wraps on the now 3YO after a good trial in Singapore.

He didn’t let his backers down on debut – bolting in by over four lengths – and obviously won nice enough at his next two in Novice and Graduation company to think he is a potential top-liner. His trainer, Leticia Dragon, looks to have found a very good race – a Kranji Stakes C over 1200m (race 9) – to keep his unbeaten run in Singapore going with gate 1 just a bonus in this field.

Elsewhere on the card – race 10 to be precise – NEW YORK CITY could have the punters singing as he tries to turn three eye-catching but ultimately disappointing runs in Singapore into a win. He swoops like the cult favourite he is fast becoming and with a likely good clip set early
by MAREA NEGRO, the stars and stripes silks should salute in what is a very suitable race.

Race 8

Selections; 1 KLEVER WARRIOR – 8 INCREDIBLE HULK – 2 MARINE PARK – 7 SEA OF LOVE
Absolutely nothing jumps off the page in this Class 5 event and while 1800m won’t be an issue for most, lack of winning or even good form will. KLEVER WARRIOR has only one career win to his name – and that was on the Poly – but showed placing last start over 2000m that he handles the turf. The good gate helps and he might be the one punters flock to in a race with no stand-outs. INCREDIBLE HULK knows how to win and might find this race suitable to show his best late. A good early pace will suit the swooper as will the Long Course D and he might even be value given he comes into this with a poor run under his belt. A couple of maidens in MARINE PARK and SEA OF LOVE also appeal and should find this race to their liking with THREE KINGS the improver at hopefully long odds.

1 KLEVER WARRIOR *** Did it tough wide last start so should appreciates better gate and right in this. 3.25
2 MARINE PARK *** Last run better than the result and gives this a shake on best form. 8.00
3 ABOVE REACH * No. 100
4 SUPER STAR ** Goes OK on his day but some risk given all six career wins on the Poly. 8.00
5 GREYSTOKE ** Maiden who worked home well enough last start to include in exotics. 10
6 ROYAL BRAT ** Never involved last start but more than capable of running a very forward race. 5.00
7 SEA OF LOVE *** Maiden who showed last start he goes OK on the turf and can follow. 10
8 INCREDIBLE HULK *** Didn’t show a lot last start but this race should suit his swooping style and can win. 12
9 RADIANT ROI * Struggled of late but cheeky run expected from the ace with Zaki. 33
10 THREE KINGS *** Ignore recent poor form as this trip suits and improves lengths. 12
11 ATIAMURI ** In-and-out runner but showed enough last start to follow. 12
12 TRIPLE GOALS ** Not a mile away last start but need to show his best. 20
13 RECIPROCATE * No. 50
14 CHENGDU WARRIOR *** In-form and getting back onto the turf wont hurt. 10

Race 9

Selections; 2 RAISE NO DOUBT – 5 GATO NEGRO – 7 MARSEILLE ROULETTE – 3 HAMMER DOWN
It really does look a case of how short with RAISE NO DOUBT and hopefully how far if you back him. After a perfect three-from-three to start his Singapore career, the 3YO looks extremely well-placed in Kranji Stakes C company to knock in win number four which would more than frank his good – albeit maiden – juvenile form from Australia. Who runs second? GATO NEGRO had excuses last start when he finished on late behind MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS. Apprentice “Willy” Tan stays on-board and if he gets a trouble free run from the wide gate, he is in the mix. MARSEILLE ROULETTE was extremely disappointing with support last start but if you could make excuses, he is also worth another look and on best form would be some hope. Throw in HAMMER DOWN, LOYAL FRIENDS and NATURE IS NATURE with SWEET LODGE the closer at odds.

1 GREENSTONE * Winkers on, handy claim and appreciates company but might need longer. 20
2 RAISE NO DOUBT *** Won well as odds-on pop last start and no reason he keeps the unbeaten run going. 1.60
3 HAMMER DOWN ** Disappointing last start but should go well this company with turf in his favour. 20
4 NATURE IS NATURE ** Back in trip after poor run but worth another look on ability. 12
5 GATO NEGRO ** Excuses not to be in the mix last start and keeps the favourite honest at odds. 10
6 LOYAL FRIENDS ** Honest and a must for exotics. 12
7 MARSEILLE ROULETTE ** Very disappointing with heavy support last start and have to take on trust. 6.00
8 SWEET LODGE ** Back in trip a concern but will pass a few late so can include in exotics. 20
9 GOOD LOOUKEN * Appreciates first-up run but should need easier. 20
10 CHEETAH * Needs easier and longer. 33

Race 10

Selections; 3 NEW YORK CITY – 1 PANAMA CITY – 2 SUPER VOICE – 6 SACRED CITY
Hopefully this race is set up for the swoopers as most of the main hopes will be coming from the rear and it should make for an exciting finish. MAREA NEGRO and DRAGON G should ensure the race is run at a good clip and with this in mind on the Long Course D, NEW YORK CITY should get his chance to break through. The former Malaysian 4YO arrived in Singapore with three wins under his belt from 19 starts and has shown plenty under the care of Laurie Laxon at three Kranji starts. He does get well back, so the wide gate is not a concern and he could be the best of the swoopers. PANAMA CITY has won two of his last three and picks himself especially given his last win was this company. He gets some 6kg extra but a horse worth following. SUPER VOICE showed enough with blinkers on last start to follow from a better gate and for value, keep SACRED CITY safe as he will go well in races like this. ZAC SUGGESTION will also be in the swooping brigade and warrants respect.

1 PANAMA CITY *** Up 6kg for good win this Class but every chance. 3.00
2 SUPER VOICE *** Hit the line well when blinkers added over 1400m last start and right in this from a good gate. 10
3 NEW YORK CITY *** Continues to storm home and just miss and obviously in the mix here. 3.00
4 STANZOUT ** Had a chequered run last start when blinkers went on but worth another look at odds. 20
5 ZAC SUGGESTION *** Another that gets back and runs on and can finish in the winning mix. 12
6 SACRED CITY *** Start looked costly last time out and looks a solid each-way hope at odds. 20
7 DRAGON G * Blinkers back on but might need longer and easier. 33
8 SPINNING SUCCESS ** Recent form reads just fair but competitive on his day. 33
9 WHAT’S DAT ** Two career wins over 1200m on the poly but in the mix on good recent form. 8.00
10 JACKPOT ** Showed enough last start to keep safe with light weight. 12
11 MAREA NEGRO ** Maiden win this trip and cheeky run expected. 20
12 JAPPANELLA * Might wait for easier company. 33

Race 11

Selections; 3 ARROWHEAD – 4 CODIGO – 10 LESOTHO PROMISE – 1 GRAND SEVEN SEAS
An interesting race with a newcomer in GRAND SEVEN SEAS looking good enough at the trials to play a part and obviously the tote will be a good guide on the former Japanese geldings winning chances. The tote will also be a good guide on HIDDEN ART who made his Singapore debut earlier this month and gives every indication he improves for the outing. And again, the tote will give us some indication whether or not LESOTHO PROMISE bounces back after a poor run but a recent trial suggests he does with blinkers on first-time. But the horse they all have to beat is ARROWHEAD. The 3YO gelding backedup a nice enough maiden victory with a very strong win in KSD company and he will be hard to beat on a repeat of that effort. Throw in CODIGO back in his winning grade with some solid form under his belt and down in the weights, ALAN could win a race like this without surprising. Do your best!

1 GRAND SEVEN SEAS *** Former Japanese galloper who looked OK late at recent trial and could show up in this company. Watch market. 8.00
2 ROYAL TUDOR ** Disappointing first-up but recent trial again good enough to keep safe. 20
3 ARROWHEAD *** Backed up maiden win with a very strong KSD victory. Hard to beat. 2.80
4 CODIGO *** Always in the mix and drop to winning Class could see a result. 5.00
5 YOURSTOKEEP * Disappointing last start and might be looking for further. 50
6 BENJI’S RULE * Not the worst but might wait for easier company and perhaps blinkers. 50
7 DAHLHAUS ** Resuming after a good run of form over longer and could show up fresh. 12
8 HIDDEN ART ** Appreciates Singapore debut and should improve. 20
9 HAKAMGONG * Had excuses last couple but not sure drop to 1200m is his caper. 50
10 LESOTHO PROMISE *** Blinkers on and trailed well since something looked amiss last start. Tote watch in order. 6.00
11 JUST FOR J * No. 100
12 ALAN *** Excuses last start and will win one of these sooner than later. 5.00
13 RORY * Reassess easier and shorter. 50

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
