These Streets wins in Singapore

These Streets wins in Singapore

A solid without being spectacular card greets punters on Friday in Singapore but some more than handy types resuming should make for a very interesting night.

Case in point is the smarter than most THESE STREETS who finds himself well-placed back in Kranji Stakes C company (race 7) after and ambitious run at Group level in the EW Barker. But while finishing eighth in the EW, the run was solid and given he had won three and placed twice from six starts prior to that Group experience, he is more than up to winning this.

Throw in a very nice recent trial and the 5YO gelding could be a good thing with only the honest EAGLE STORM likely to challenge him in both betting and the finish. Another nice type resuming with a good trial under his belt is SNITZEL SPIRIT in race 3 on the card. The 3YO has shown more than enough at five career starts that included a group 3 placing behind the 2014 Juvenile Champion, AFFLECK, to think he is better than what looks an even BM67 field.

While not up to the level shown by THESE STREETS and SNITZEL SPIRIT, the maiden GUILTY PLEASURES also appeals first-up after a spell. The 3YO gets blinkers for the first time and given what he showed at a recent trial with head-gear coupled with his good form form his previous campaign, he could be hard to beat.

.

Race 1

Selections; 5 FATKID WONDERER – 1 MINGS MAN – 2 BEST NINE – 7 LION MASTER
An interesting KSD with BEST NINE looking well-placed to make it back-to-back wins and a couple of novice hoops who gets their chance on some nice enough types in FATKID WANDERER and LION MASTER. Y Salim claims 4kg on FATKID WANDERER and while the horse did look to run a tad greenly when asked last start, he was right in the thick on that finish and goes mighty close if he goes straight late. WS Chan claims 3kg off LION MASTER and given he probably leads and had excuses last start not to finish a lot closer, he could be hard to pass late and might get out to value. BEST NINE won too well not to be the benchmark though and Flores’ experience will count for plenty. The maiden at the top of the weights – MINGS MAN – showed more than enough last start behind POWER LIN to follow with Nunes a significant booking (especially given the inexperienced hoop on our top pick). CASH DOT COM looks back in form so keep safe.

1 MINGS MAN *** Maiden who went close last start and can win this. 4.00
2 BEST NINE *** Won well this company last start and in this a very long way from gate 3. 3.00
3 CASH DOT COM *** Not far away in Class 4 company last start and would win this on his day. 12
4 TROPICAL FOREST ** Form reads badly but comes under notice dropping back to recent winning company. 33
5 FATKID WONDERER *** Green when asked last start but in-form and must be respected with handy 4kg claim. 5.00
6 YOURSTOKEEP * Resuming and could work into skinny end of exotics late. 33
7 LION MASTER *** Last run better than the result and cheeky run expected at value. 8.00
8 GOLDEN RABBIT ** Excuses not to finish closer last start and will be involved somewhere late with nice recent trial under his belt. 8.00
9 HEAR ME * Resuming but probably needs longer. 33
10 ROMA ** Resuming and while form from last campaign was good, have to take on trust first-up. 20
11 JONATHAN * Gets blinkers but may need easier. 33
12 ACE RICH * Back in trip and eligible for easier. 100

Race 2

Selections; 1 GUILTY PLEASURES – 7 SAND BANK – 9 STORM TROOPER – 10 WHISPERINTHEWIND
A very strong Restricted Maiden with five or so horses ready to win and all should have supporters in the betting ring. As it stands, two horses that come into this with strong recent trials under their belts in GUILTY PLEASURES and SAND BANK come under notice. GUILTY PLEASURES is resuming and gets blinkers on for the first time at the races so his easy trial (late) is a very good pointer. SAND BANK was supported heavily on debut and while he didn’t win, his run and trial good enough to follow. Of the others that can win without surprising, STORM TROOPER picks himself on what was a very good debut and WHISPERINTHEWIND looks a promising type that plays a part late. MIGHTY GLORY resuming and PUERTO COLONIA on what was a surprising debut two others to keep safe with an eye on the market for the rest.

1 GUILTY PLEASURES *** Resuming with upgrade to blinkers and recent trials suggests he can win first-up. 3.00
2 MIGHTY GLORY *** Resuming after frustrating run of good form without a win last campaign. Goes close. 8.00
3 COMONBABY ** Two career runs very solid and keeps a few honest. 33
4 COSTNER ** Pushed out to win recent trial but looks ready and hard to fault stable form. 12
5 NUMERO UNO ** Plenty of excuses on debut so pay to keep safe at long odds with that experience under his belt. 50
6 PUERTO COLONIA *** Big effort to place on debut at very long odds and have to respect on that effort. 10
7 SAND BANK *** Supported heavily and went close on debut but subsequently trialed like a winner. 5.00
8 SHUYING XIAOXIAO * Not on trial form. 100
9 STORM TROOPER *** Did well to place on debut and looks one of the leading hopes here. 4.00
10 WHISPERINTHEWIND *** Thereabouts last start and looks like he will one soon. 10
11 WILL BE BETTER * Name and trial suggests we can wait. 100
12 DARSHANA * Will improve with racing. 100
13 BLACK TRISTAR * Market only guide on quiet trial form. 33

.

Race 3

Selections; 7 SNITZEL SPIRIT – 2 BLACK FIERY – 4 MEDIA CAPTAIN – 5 BLUE DIAMOND
SNITZEL SPIRIT could be a very good thing here. Although not racing on the all-weather track, the 3YO gelding showed more than enough at a first preparation that netted three wins and two places in five starts. His last start placing was behind Affleck in the Group 3 Magic Millions 3YO Championship and given his trial form, he should be extremely hard to beat first-up after a spell with gate 1 a bonus. Who keeps him honest? BLACK FIERY won well in Class 4 company last start and that effort good enough to go close here as does the honest MEDIA CAPTAIN who is racing in fine order this campaign. BLUE DIAMOND is better than his recent two runs show on paper and the others would have to be at their very best to win.

1 CALIFORNIA EAGLE ** Always a show and recent won was in similar race to this. 8.00
2 BLACK FIERY *** Up in Class but last start win good enough to follow. 5.00
3 GOLDEN MISSION ** Doesn’t win out of turn but will be thereabouts. 20
4 MEDIA CAPTAIN *** In form and in this a very long way. 5.00
5 BLUE DIAMOND *** Never involved last start but previous form has him under notice. 8.00
6 SECRET MISSION ** Competitive but lack of winning form in Singapore a concern. 20
7 SNITZEL SPIRIT *** Smart type resuming and should win with at first race on the Poly with nice recent trial a pointer. 2.50
8 FAT BOBO ** Appreciates being back on the Poly and will be value. Keep safe. 33
9 WARSPIRIT * Resuming and have to take on trust. 33
10 ROYAL STYLE ** Will be running on and will add value to exotics. 20
11 ANGRY CAT ** Another closing late and a must for exotics on best form. 25

.

Race 4

Selections; 2 SUPER CAPTAIN – 4 BANKERS CALL – 5 CASSIS OOLONG – 9 AFFIRMATION
This is not a strong Class 5 race and on form you can narrow the winning hopes down to SUPER CAPTAIN and BANKERS CALL. Both horses are in form and have a recent win under their belt and not much separates the pair on paper. So looking for an edge, SUPER CAPTAIN gets the nod after drawing gate 2. His regular hoop, R Rueven, should get a nice sit or even dictate terms if nothing wants to lead and looks every chance. BANKERS CALL has Nunes and expect a very positive ride from the leading hoop after narrowly going down after jumping from a similar alley last start. Of the rest it may pay to keep CASSIS OOLONG safe given the jockey reported excuses last start and he will win races like this when right with both Yusof emergencies likely to go well if they get a start.

1 LIVE IN HOPE ** Very much appreciates Class 5 company but better winning option on the turf. 20
2 SUPER CAPTAIN *** In very solid form this campaign and goes very close to winning this. 3.50
3 JACKPOT * Blinkers off but struggling. 50
4 BANKERS CALL *** Drawn wide but in very good form and the one to beat. 4.00
5 CASSIS OOLONG *** Could make excuses last start and worth a thought at odds in what should be a suitable race. 20
6 DYNASTY KNIGHT ** Form good but another who looks a better option on the turf. 10
7 IMPERIOUS ** Struggled with support in a weak one last start and have to take on trust. 12
8 VANTAGE ** Hard to fault form last couple although only win was over 1900m. 5.00
9 AFFIRMATION ** Will win this grade soon but needs a result and probably turf. 8.00
10 ENZO * Hard to have. 50
11 BULLDOZER ** Showed last start he is some hope when on song and can include in exotics. 12
12 HAPPY FOREVER * Didn’t back up his good run and easier to miss. 33
13 SACRED CROWN *** Racing in consistent form and goes close if he gets a start. 7.00
14 SO PERFECT *** In-form and appreciates getting back on the Poly. 7.00

.

Race 5

Selections; 2 IN FACT – 5 SMART LAD – 7 JUSTICE WORLD – 4 VERGLATICA
IN FACT impressed at two runs at Group level and looks the only one the punters will want back in more suitable company. With a heavier weight to carry, his recent winning jockey – John Powell – goes back on and the combination of the hoop and company should see a win. His main danger looks to be a handy Yusof 3YO in SMART LAD. The gelding won very well under Farrick Tan last start (in what was a handy pick-up ride) and the 3kg claimer will be hoping to show he is the man for the job. JUSTICE WORLD wasn’t far behind SMART LAD last start when blinkers went on and probably had excuses not to finish closer. He gets Nunes and could be the value runner. Throw a blanket over the rest for exotics.

1 EMPRESS WU ** First-up run good enough to think she has returned in form and pay to
keep safe. 20
2 IN FACT *** Coming off two placing (albeit with no weight) in Open company and very hard to beat in this. 2.00
3 FUJIN BRIGHT ** Will find this company more to his liking and cheeky run expected. 8.00
4 VERGLATICA ** Ran on well late last start and could show something at odds. 20
5 SMART LAD *** Progressive 3YO whose first-up win good enough to play a part in this with 3kg claim. 4.00
6 DANGER ZONE ** Very much appreciates first run back and always a must for exotics. 13
7 JUSTICE WORLD *** Showed more than enough behind SMART LAD last start when blinkers added to follow. 6.00
8 BOARD WALK ** Honest and versatile so a must for exotics. 20
9 OVER EASY ** Could make excuses for poor form of late and might be worth thought at bolter odds. 33

.

Race 6

Selections; 2 SINGSURAT – 5 DOUBLE JEOPARDY – 4 GRAND PARIS – 3 CAN’T TOUCH ME
We like to think that Restricted Maiden company is better than most Class 5’s so with that in mind, SINGSURAT gets his chance. The 3YO has had plenty of chances – nine starts to be fair – but given he has had support of late and is having his first start in this company, he can break through. He has a wide draw to overcome but Michael Rodd is in good form and he must go close. Another maiden in DOUBLE JEOPARDY also looks ready to break his maiden status. The 4YO has his foot well and truly on the till and probably starts favourite given his good form including last start in this company. The others with winning hopes are all similarly weighted with SCHILTRON, GRAND PARIS and CAN’T TOUCH ME all in with an each-way show.

1 SCHILTRON *** Placed last couple since stepping up in trip and worth another look with blinkers back on. 6.00
2 SINGSURAT *** Excuses last start and looks a strong winning hope in Class 5 with any sort of run from wide gate. 8.00
3 CAN’T TOUCH ME *** Always a show this type of race and should get a few favours from gate 3. 6.00
4 GRAND PARIS *** Excuses last start and should play a part in this finish. 6.00
5 DOUBLE JEOPARDY *** Maiden with foot well and truly on the till. Big show. 3.00
6 WEOWNA FLYER * Needs to show something for new trainer. 33
7 SILVER FLY * Coming off a shocker and needs to be at his best. 33
8 NORTH STAR ** Battles away and will keep them all honest. 10
9 WINNING SUCCESS * Can run a cheeky race at odds but a win would surprise. 33
10 DOS EQUIS ** Will work into this late and can include in exotics at odds. 20
11 REAL GOODMAN ** Another who works into this late and some hope on recent good form. 12
12 BRILLIANT POWER * Competitive on his day and will be long odds. 100
13 CHENGDU WARRIOR ** Always some show in this type of race. 20
14 SUPER VELOX * Cult maiden going for 60 straight this time sans blinkers. 50

.

Race 7

Selections; 1 THESE STREETS – 5 EAGLE STORM – 9 WHITE COFFEE – 6 SICHUAN RULER
THESE STREETS resumes in what looks like very suitable company after a tilt at Group glory and might be hard to beat. His winning form before what was solid run in the EW Barker was very good and given he comes into this with a very nice trial under his belt, he could be a good thing. In his favour is the fact nothing really jumps off the page although EAGLE STORM had enough excuses last start to think he gives this a shake if THESE STREETS isn’t on his game. In EAGLE STORM’s favour is his consistency and with any sort of luck in running from an awkward gate, he goes mighty close. Throw the blanket over the rest but HW Tan has two horses in WHITE COFFEE and SICHUAN RULER that play a part at odds.

1 THESE STREETS *** Resuming after ambitious but fair EW Barker run and recent good trial suggests he wins first-up. 3.00
2 TOM * Will work into this late but hard to have on recent run of form. 33
3 FLYING ZERO ** Resuming and honest enough last campaign to consider. 20
4 HARD STUFF ** Form reads hopeless but had excuses first-up and could show up at long odds. 33
5 EAGLE STORM *** Copped traffic in the straight last start and well worth an each-way look on previous form. 6.00
6 SICHUAN RULER ** Has been disappointing of late but goes good enough on his day to keep safe. 20
7 MEXBOROUGH BOY ** Did it tough last start and happy to include in exotics. 20
8 COOL CAT * Veteran who should need easier. 33
9 WHITE COFFEE ** Backing-up after solid run in Class 4 last start and pay to keep safe. 12
10 MACHFIVE * Reassess Poly, shorter, easier. 50
11 LADY SHARK * Needs easier. 50

.

Race 8

Selections; 1 JIMMY REA – 2 ODE TO JOY – 4 BARNATO – 8 SING ROULETTE
JIMMY REA seems to go better than most and his trainer Mark Walker looks to have found a very suitable Class 4 to continue his winning run. In fact after a sighter (with excuses) at his Singapore debut, he has looked the goods winning at his subsequent two runs and very hard to beat at this level with Nunes retaining the ride. They will jump out of the trees to back him though which suggests a couple of nice types in BARNATO and the former Argentinean ODE TO JOY could get out to each-way value. ODE TO JOY in particular trialed like he is set to make an impression at his Singapore debut and has to be kept very safe. Michael Rodd takes the ride and after two wins from four starts back in his native land, he looks well placed in Class 4. BARNATO has won twice from nine career starts and his recent trial suggests he can add to that total. SING ROULETTE and INVINCIBLE GOLD the other two that have winning hopes.

1 JIMMY REA *** Had excuses not to win last start in Novice company and that effort has him very hard to beat. 2.10
2 ODE TO JOY *** Former Argentinean who comes into this after a strong hit-out at a recent trial. Keep safe. 5.50
3 BLACK SNOW ** Excuses not to finish closer at first-up run and worth thought although may need longer to show best. 20
4 BARNATO *** Has speed so wide gate not an issue and recent trial suggests he gives this a shake. 8.00
5 LION WAVE ** Will be flying late but might need longer again. 20
6 HUMOR TOWN * Issues last start but may need easier than this. 50
7 TREASUREINTHEHEART * Resuming and no. 50
8 SING ROULETTE *** Excuses for only bad run and should figure prominently in this. 8.00
9 SMART SUPREME ** Blinkers off and certainly commands respect on form. 12
10 INVINCIBLE GOLD *** Progressive type who showed enough first up to follow eachway. 8.00
11 FLAMING FIREHEART * Might need Class 5. 100
12 BLACK MAMBA * No. 100
13 PURE RABID * Needs longer. 100
14 INFERMO * Needs easier and Poly. 200
