Simons To Seize The Day!

The first race at Vaal is off at 12h10

An exciting nine-race programme is set for the Vaal this afternoon.

There are three feature races including the Non-Black Type WSB Grand Heritage, Non-Black Type WSB Heritage Consolation,  and the Non-Black Type WSB Sophomore 1000.

The first is due off at 12h10.

Randall Simons will be riding Forever Mine in race 8 today (Pic – Facebook / Randall Simons)

Forever Mine from the Mike de Kock stable takes his place in the Non-Black Type Heritage Consolation.

He set the pace over 1400m at Turffontein last time and fought hard to keep all challengers at bay. He finished second in his only attempt on this course. The 5yo gelding is the class horse in this contest and he can notch up his seventh career victory.

Trainer Fanie Bronkhorst saddles Pinch Hit in Race 3. He has shown good signs of a form return in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this course and distance.

He finished 1.5 lengths behind Gimme The Flame last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he may be the one to side with.

Please note that L Nhlapo will not be riding today.
