Silvano The Broodmare Sire – European Stakes Winner

The Silvano dynasty grows

The champagne corks were popping out at Maine Chance Farm in Robertson in midweek when the Gestut Fahrfhof-bred entire Riocorvo slammed his field to win the Gr3 Grand Prix De Vichy run over 2000m at Vichy.

Only beaten two lengths on his first try at Stakes level last month, when fourth in the Listed Grand Prix de Compiegne, Riocorvo (Pastorius) continued his progression to claim his first black-type success. He was settled in second by Gerald Mosse, was pushed along in the straight, and he asserted to win well by three lengths.

By Pastorius who stands at the Jacobs family’s Fahrhof, Riocorvo is a full-brother to a US five-year-old winner.

The winner enhanced Silvano’s broodmare sire status and is out of the son of Lomitas’ unraced daughter Rio Cobra, a half-sister to the Listed Lord Weinstock Memorial Stakes winner Rumh. Rio Cobra is out of Royal Dubai (Dashing Blade) who won the Gr3 Preis der Winterkonigin and she is also the dam of Rahada. This is the family of Gr1 Breeders Cup winner, Yibir.

Rio Cobra has a yearling colt by Cloth Of Stars catalogued as Lot 111 at the BBAG September Yearling Sale.
