News24 has reported that former Steinhoff CEO Markus Jooste has died.

Jooste played a role in the South African Horseracing Industry as a leading owner and breeder prior to the collapse of his business empire in December 2017.

The news comes a day after the Financial Sector Conduct Authority fined him R475 Million for publishing deceptive statements about Steinhoff International’s financial position over a period of some years.
