A Feature Saturday At Turffontein

The Bipot starts in the second at 13h00

Nine races are scheduled at Turffontein this afternoon.

There are five feature races on the day including the Gr 2 Senor Santa Stakes, Listed Drum Star Handicap, Listed Derby Trial, Listed Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial and the Non-Black Type Gold Rush Sprint.

The first race is due off at 12h25.

Forever Mine was carded to race on Classic day, but the race got abandoned due to inclement weather, and he takes his place in Race 3 today.

He ran a good race in his comeback run over 1200m at the Vaal. He showed good speed that day, but found one too good in the form of Mk’s Pride who has won a Gr2 since.

The son of Vercingetorix should strip a much fitter horse today and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Stephen Moffatt saddles Afraad in Race 8.

He fought hard in his last start, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Pamushana’s Pride who runs in Race 5 today.

It will pay to follow his progress in that contest. He has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this distance.

He has struck up a good partnership with Denis Schwarz and the combination should go close.

The false rail is set 4m on the back straight to 10m on the bend with a 10m spur at the 700m mark.
