Guineas Day Dawns Bright

The Pick 6 starts in the fourth at 15h00

The Gr1 Cape Guineas raceday has dawned under beautiful blue skies – and there is an estimated Pick 6 pool of R4 million to be won!

There are two other feature races on the quality card, including the Gr 3 Cape Racing Victress Stakes and the Gr2 Cape Racing Peninsula Handicap.

The first race is off at 13h20.

Jimmy The Rich writes that Missisippi Burning from the Adam Marcus stable is the best bet on the card in the fifth, the Victress Stakes.

She was carded to race last week Saturday, but was scratched due to being under veterinary treatment.

She ran a good race when finishing fourth behind Clouds Unfold over a distance short of her best, four weeks ago.

The daughter of Captain Al will love the step up to the nine furlongs and she should be at peak fitness.

Candice Bass-Robinson sends out Sovereign Spirit in the Peninsula Handicap. He finished two lengths behind Nexus last time.

He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

The 5yo gelding should strip much fitter this afternoon and may be the one to side with.

The new course false rail is 2m out from the 1800m mark, with a 5m spur at the 600m mark.

  • The Bipot starts in the second at 13h55
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the third at 14h25
  • The Pick 6 starts in the fourth at 15h00
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fifth race at 15h35
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the sixth race at 16h10

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
