Jimmy The Rich writes that Trainer Adam Marcus saddles Act Of Thunder in Race 3. He produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course.

He understandably raced green, but stayed on nicely at the finish.

The son of Act Of War would have gained from the experience and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

The in-form stable of Piet Botha sends out Captain Dizzy in the last race. He finished 0.4 lengths behind Winter Flight last time.

He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

He has won once and finished third twice from as many starts over this course and distance. Luyolo Mxothwa retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

The winter course false rail is 1m out from the 1700m mark with a 3m spur at the 470m mark. The start is forward of zero by 3m.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h40
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h15
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h50
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h28
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 15h08

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
