Sea Cottage Crowned ‘The Greatest’

Two horse race in the end

The poll initiated by Snaith Racing to find the greatest South African Horse of all time produced some fascinating comments and it turned into a huge contest and vigorous debate over the past seven days.

In the end, Sea Cottage was crowned the winner with a healthy total of 25 142 votes.

It was apparent early that the favourites were Horse Chestnut and Sea Cottage, and so it turned into a two-horse race.

One could argue the greatest in the last two decades, Horse Chestnut, versus the greatest from a bygone era, Sea Cottage.

Just imagine a match race between these two giants of our sport – who would be the victor? That is a question we will never know the answer to and we can only share our views and that is what makes all sports spectacular.

Comparing these two superstars would be unfair. It would be like comparing Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi – impossible to choose but both equally deserve their superstardom status and their place in the hall of fame.

Thanks to Snaith Racing and to everybody who participated so enthusiastically!
