Santa Anita – Protest Calls For Racing

No Covid-19 positives

Bob Baffert

US Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert has joined a protest staged outside Santa Anita racecourse calling for the return of racing at the California track.

According to horseracingnation.com, the rally was organised by Oscar De La Torre who is a powerful advocate of California’s back-stretch workers.

Baffert, with his wife Jill, was one of many racing supporters attempting to influence the reversal of a decision to close the track on 27 March due to racing not being deemed an essential activity.

With dual Derby-winning trainer Doug O’Neill also in attendance, Baffert told the gathering that despite trackwork remaining open since the closure of Santa Anita for race meetings, there is yet to be one COVID-19 positive.
