Sandown’s Seven Race Card Offers Prospects Today

Sandown racecourse hosts a seven-race card on Saturday with the highlight the Gr3 Sky Bet Solario Stakes (16h35).

John Gosden has a great record in this contest with Too Darn Hot and Kingman two of his previous winners that went on to Group 1 glory.

The Gosdens run Field Of Gold on Saturday and this Juddmonte owned colt could continue the trend.

A grey son of Kingman, he was an impressive winner of a Newmarket maiden last month and is well-entered for all the major juvenile events later in the season. He looks a top-class prospect.

The danger looks to come from the Andrew Balding stable in the form of the once-raced Royal Playwright. Bred to be smart being by Lope de Vega out of Juddmonte International winner Arabian Queen, he follows the same path as his ex-stablemate Kameko who went on to Guineas success in 2019. Oisin Murphy takes the ride on this highly regarded colt.

Earlier on the card, Tamfana looks the one to beat in the Sky Bet Atalanta Stakes (15h25). She takes on eight rivals over a mile, and on her run in the 1000 Guineas when beaten just a length, she can atone here in Group 3 class.

The inform David Menuisier trained three-year-old was denied a run on that occasion but finished best of all when in the clear and was unlucky not to have caught Elmalka at Newmarket.

A subsequent third and fourth in France at Group 1 level only add to her chances and she should provide her jockey Oisin Murphy with another victory on his march to this season’s jockey title.

Fellow three-year-old Rolica is selected to chase her home as she did at Newmarket.

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
