Times are tough. The results are difficult to find at times. And it’s a tough time of the month. The conditions are reflected in the tote pools at the moment, with even the guest appearance of champion Legislate at Scottsville on Wednesday failing to lift the exotic pools to any degree.
A caller to the Sporting Post offices drew attention to the R570 000 Place Accumulator pool at the Vaal on Thursday.
“Have you guys seen this or are you sleeping like everybody else in this industry? I’d be concerned. This is a Gauteng pool. Not Kimberley or a mickey mouse centre. Is this not symptomatic of a game that is dying?” asked the lifetime punter, who chose to remain anonymous.
We asked Phumelela Sports Betting Executive Vee Moodley about the pedestrian pools
“I am aware of the Vaal pools and Scottsville also showed poor turnovers. The highest turnovers are normally achieved between the 25th to the 7th of the following month. And at this current time – that is from the 10th to the 20th – we see the biggest ‘dip’. The results have also been tough and that affects the churn factor tremendously as well,” said Vee, who said that he expected to see a things back to normal by Friday 25 May.
There are plenty of carryovers which will provide hard-hit Pick 6 players to get some money back with over R5 million in Pick 6’s to be won this weekend.
That starts on Friday at Fairview where a R150 000 carryover is likely to see the pool grow too R800 000.
On Saturday at Greyville, the Gr2 WSB 1900 headlines a Pick 6 that could reach R2,3 million, courtesy of a R500 000 carryover.
On the same day Kenilworth could get to R900 000 with a R100 000 carryover, while the Turffontein Sunday Pick 6 can hit R2 million (carryover R300 000).
