SA Racing Television – Frustration Builds

Viewers vent frustration

The sadly fractured  face of South African racing television continues to frustrate viewers and can surely only lead to more pressure on the sport.

On Thursday a trainer contacted the Sporting Post to express frustration both on his part and that of his staff at what has become a technical nightmare for many.

“I think the tech guys involved have tried to show how smart they are rather than make it simple and accessible. I am limited technically and so are many thosuands of R6 punters in my estimation. My staff are also used to having a small wager and watching the racing from the stable. It is these small contributions to the pools that are going to snowball into an even bigger knock for our turnovers – and ultimately our image,” he added.

Today the KZN-based Gallop TV carried the following notice:

Regrettably, we have been instructed by 4Racing to immediately cease streaming of the 4Racing product on this website – (Kenilworth, Durbanville, Fairview, Turffontein and Vaal racing). We apologise for the inconvenience which is beyond our control.

The Tellytrack option on the Gallop website allowed viewers to grab the last month of Tellytrack, before it is consigned to the scrapheap of history on 28 February.

The Sporting Post has received calls over the past few weeks from punters who are angry at what is seen as an inconvenience in their lives.

“I only added whatsapp to my mobile phone six months ago. I do not want further exposure to passwords, logins and computers at my age,” said a Wynberg-based racing fan of 40 years.
