Time For A Rethink On Racetimes

Vivian Mansour's observations about racetimes

After the abandonment of the Vaal racemeeting on Thursday, racetimes have become the subject of some heated debate.

Vivian Mansour writes in the Sporting Post Mailbag that it was a shame that punters and especially people who went out to the Vaal had to travel back, as all the horses.  Expensive exercise!

  • Cape Town on Wednesday started at 13h05 and finished and 17h15. Very big gaps between races
  • Happy Valley (Hong Kong) started at 13h15 and finished 16h45. Quick and simple!

Owner Joffe (RIP) told racing in South Africa years and years ago that times must be adjusted during the summer months.

Did anyone listen?
