The Licensing Committee of the Mauritius Turf Club has recommended to the Board Of Administrators that the green light be given to Ricky Maingard to hire British jockey Richard Oliver, and to Rameshwar Gujadhur to sign JP van Der Merwe.

Ryan Munger – big opportunity

Van der Merwe, who won the 2016 Met aboard Smart Call, confines his riding to Gauteng and the Eastern Cape. He does not feature in the SA top 20 but is a talented rider when he puts his mind to it.

Trainer Raj Ramdin is awaiting approval from the MTC to hire the underrated Ryan Munger. The  Dainfern College graduate came out of his time at the end of 2015.

The 1400m Gr2 Duchess Of York Cup is being run as the opening feature of the new season
