The concluding day of Royal Ascot looks set to provide another thrilling day of action on the track with plenty of stories to be told before the 2021 Royal Meeting comes to an end.
The Diamond Jubilee Stakes is the feature race, the premier Gr1 sprint of the meeting over six furlongs.
Dream Of Dreams has been very close to winning this for the last two years and must have an excellent chance again after making a winning return at Windsor.
Nahaarr and Starman reoppose having both run in the Duke of York Stakes where Ed Walker’s Starman came out on top. He is the one in this field with the most potential but there’s reason to believe Nahaarr could turn the tables this time and the ground will suit while Glen Shiel who is proven on this surface having won the Champions Sprint in October.
Point Lonsdale looked a star two-year-old in the making with a thoroughly professional performance on debut at the Curragh and he should take all the beating in the opening Chesham Stakes.
Masekela won at Goodwood on his first start and looks like a nice type while Great Max should appreciate this trip having got up close to home at Newbury on his racecourse debut.
It looks a typically competitive renewal of the Jersey Stakes (3.05pm) with a mixture of unexposed horses and others dropping down from higher level company. Creative Dream looks a worthy favourite having won all three starts this season although this trip would be a question mark.
Mutasaabeq needs to bounce back after disappointing in the Guineas while Nando Parrado, the winner of the Coventry Stakes last year, is a big price again and could outrun his odds. Her Majesty The Queen has two runners, including Tactical, last year’s Windsor Castle Stakes winner.
Wonderful Tonight, last year’s Fillies & Mares winner on QIPCO British Champions Day, heads a deep looking edition of the Hardwicke Stakes.
Group 1 winners Japan and Logician are also in there but they have inconsistent profiles while Broome is the choice of Ryan Moore and he should appreciate this step up in trip.
Albaflora won the Listed Buckhounds Stakes here in May while Hukum was a winner at Royal Ascot last year. Ilaraab is the most fascinating runner here having won his last seven starts and the ground will hold no concerns.
The Wokingham Stakes is always one of the biggest betting heats of the season with a large field set to go to post as usual. King’s Lynn reappears quickly having run well in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday and has an excellent chance of giving Her Majesty The Queen a 25th Royal Ascot winner back up to six furlongs.
Hey Jonesy won this last year and is just 1lb higher now so must have every chance again while Fresh and Rohaan are both course and distance winners this year. Chiefofchiefs won the consolation race for this race last year and could run well also.
The Golden Gates Stakes was a new race added to the programme last year and this three-year-old ten furlong handicap could throw up a couple of nice types for the future. They are headed in the market by King Frankel, an admirably consistent horse who looks sure to run his race again.
Alfaadhel is making his handicap debut after two easy successes in novice company and could yet be anything while Fantastic Fox is another lightly raced horse with plenty of potential. Glentaneous has yet to run on turf but if he takes to it he should relish this extended distance and could run well at a big price.
The traditional Royal Ascot finale is the Queen Alexandra Stakes which has attracted its typical eclectic collection of runners. It’s an unusually large field this year and they include previous winners Cleonte and Who Dares Wins.
The Chester Cup winner Falcon Eight looks the stand out selection though and he can give Frankie Dettori a winning end to the 2021 Royal Meeting.
- The first race is off at 15h30
