Tellytrack will be doing us all a big favour and broadcasting the first and the third race from Royal Ascot this afternoon. Mike De Kock has runners in both races and we assume that this is why our generous horseracing broadcaster has bowed to the needs of it’s limited audience.
Or maybe it was just to hook punters into participating in the mixed exotics, of which these races form an integral part?
The Sporting Post has spent the past week at least endeavouring to get an answer out of various sources at Tellytrack as regards the broadcast of these races.
All we wanted to do was publicise the excitement and create the hype and support that Mike De Kock deserves. Never mind about the betting turnovers, either. The sports betting crutch will look after that angle, we assume.
Up to 11hoo today, we were told emphatically by Tellytrack that there was going to be NO ASCOT broadcast on the local channel. Only Saturday was being transmitted.
Cecil Mthembu just confirmed the broadcast of the two races today in the studio.
One would assume that part of the excitement of gaining the support and involvement of the public and enthusiastic racing supporters and punters would be to at least provide a 24 hour notice of the intention to show these particular events? Or are we missing something?
Royal Ascot is after all, one of the world’s great racing festivals. Even call it ‘iconic’ if you like!
