Cape Caller Gets Mauritius Invite

50th birthday celebration at the Champ de Mars

Veteran Cape racecaller Rouvaun Smit celebrates his 50th birthday in work mode on Sunday.

He flew out of Cape Town on Tuesday evening for Mauritius after cracking the nod as English language commentator for the Mauritius International Jockeys Challenge at the Champ de Mars on Saturday and Sunday.

He will act as MC at the draw function for the popular annual event at the Ravenala on Wednesday evening.

The MTC have been low-key regarding news of the possible participants for the 2018 renewal of the popular international competition which has seen the likes of Frankie Dettori and Jeff Lloyd showing their skills over the years.

More should be known after the draw on Wednesday evening.

Last year the meeting was broadcast live in Australia and New Zealand for the first time and was shown on Equida – France.
