SA jockey Robbie Fradd had his best day since moving to Queensland when he landed six winners at the Gold Coast on Wednesday, moving to within 1.5 wins of Jeff Lloyd on the premiership table.
The feat will go into the premiership tally as 5.5 wins, with his final ‘winner’ Wild Ava having to settle for a dead-heat with Round Mountain Gem.
Fradd is set to miss Saturday’s Doomben meeting as he joins Lloyd for an international jockeys’ meeting in Mauritius.
“Jeff will probably cut his holiday short now and I will have to watch out for him spiking my drink in Mauritius,” Fradd said. “I will be opening my own beers!
“But in all seriousness, having someone like Jeff to chase makes you want to achieve.
“I have to dig deep if I want to get past Jeff because he’s such a great competitor. And then there’s others like Jimmy (Byrne). The competition is good for racing.”
