Leading SA breeders Ridgemont Highlands issued a press release announcing the passing on Monday evening of Dynasty – news that reverberated through the local horseracing and breeding community.
In the words of Ridgemont Highlands owner, Wayne Kieswetter, ‘Dynasty was a cornerstone and pillar of our champion farm, and indeed of the broader South African racing and breeding industry’.
In a shock for all those that loved and admired a rare thoroughbred athlete, Fort Wood’s champion son passed away on a black Monday for SA horseracing.
“Everyone at the farm, and part of our team, is devastated – he was a unique character, a great racehorse, a champion sire, and an ultimate fighter. He will be sorely missed by us all,” said Wayne Kieswetter of the multiple Equus Champion Sire and multiple Gr1 winning SA Horse Of The Year.
A star who produced 25 Gr1 horses and is still the highest rated 3yo ever to win the Gr1 Vodacom Durban July, Dynasty, along with his sire Fort Wood, is one of only 3 stallions in the history of South Africa to celebrate three SA Horses of the Year.
Ridgemont Highlands would like to thank everyone in the industry for their condolences and well wishes.
