Leading Robertson thoroughbred nursery Ridgemont Highlands is enjoying a fantastic season.
Not only are the farm’s resident stallions Canford Cliffs, Potala Palace and Rafeef enjoying plenty of success, alumni of Ridgemont Highlands continue to find the winners circle week in and week out.
Among the numerous success stories for Ridgemont this season include Gr3 Tony Ruffel Stakes victor William Robertson, Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes hero Cliff Top, impressive debut winner Body Electric, and Gr3 Cape Racing Cape Of Good Hope Nursery winner We’re Jamming.
Ridgemont Highlands, who will also stand National Sale graduate and Triple Crown winner Malmoos this year, is a farm with a long and storied history.
The farm, which today extends over 300 hectares, was founded by the Stubbs family who sold it to the late Graham Beck in the 1970’s.
Originally known as Highlands Farm Stud, the Robertson stud was sold to the Kieswetter family in 2017 when its name was subsequently adjusted to Ridgemont Highlands.
Among the numerous top stallions to have graced Highlands over the years were Dynasty, Elevation, Jallad, Jet Master, National Assembly and the legendary Persian Wonder.
A few of the top horses bred by Highlands are National Currency, Franny, Soft Falling Rain, Russian Sage, Jackson, Sweet Sanette, Trust Antonia, Potala Palace, Harry’s Charm, Ravishing, Grand Emporium, Warm White Night, On Her Toes, Agra, Divine Jury, Highland Nights, Night Watch, Dancer’s Daughter and Bush Telegraph -an impressive list to say the least.
The farm’s outstanding young sire Rafeef is well represented in Ridgemont’s National Sale’s draft, with the son of Redoute’s Choice lots including a half-brother (Lot 5) to graded stakes winners Olympic Owen and Speedy Suzy, a filly (Lot 71) out of G3 Magnolia Handicap winner My Friend Lee, and a filly (Lot 135) out of a stakes winning daughter of champion sire Trippi.
