Former Horse Of The Year and seven times South African champion sire Jet Master, has proven his Broodmare sire credentials time and again.
His daughter Halfway To Heaven was recently crowned SA Champion Broodmare at the Equus awards.
The birth on 21 August of a beautiful filly by evergreen Avontuur flagbearer Var (Forest Wildcat), who recently led the SA general sires log, had veteran GM Pippa Mickleburgh full of smiles.
The beautiful filly is a full-sister to the R400 000 Cape Premier Yearling Sale graduate Ground Control, a 3yo in training with Vaughan Marshall. Ground Control won readily at his second start in February after running second on debut – and then confirmed his promise with an eyecatching third behind the Hong Kong exported Armando in the Listed Somerset 1200 in May.
The little beauty’s Mum is Jet Master’s stakes-winning daughter Pan Amm, who was bred by Ambiance Stud and is out of the twice winning Centenary mare, Peliadora.
Pan Amm was signed for as an eight-month old weanling at R155 000 by Anton Shepherd at the 2009 Ambiance Stud dispersal sale.
Champion Sire of 2yo’s in South Africa in 2016/17 and 2017/18, Var had another memorable last term with graded stakes winners Eden Roc, Vardy, Schippers and Ghaalla.
