The African Betting Clan’s Dave Scott came out tops in Sunday’s special end-of-season Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge Racing Stars showdown.
A new fun competition launched last season, and hosted periodically within the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge platform for South Africa’s racing presenters, personalities, commentators and journalists, it pitted the faces and voices of racing against each other.
For regular players the Racing Stars were also in position on the daily leaderboard – so it was a chance for every punter countrywide to pit their individual skills against the professionals!
Just 72 years young, and a punter since the age of 13, Dave Scott aka ‘Scotia’ used to be a runner for his Granny to the local bucket shop and showed his years of experience when beating a class field of his colleagues, to walk off with the first prize of R6250.
Awards were made down to fifth place with Weighted To Win’s Daryn Burroughs running a good second and banking R2000.
Multiple Equus champion photographer Candiese Lenferna won R1000 in third, while Turf Talk’s David Thiselton banked R500 in fourth and Gqeberha stalwart Nadine Low Ah Kee, just outside the quartet in fifth, collected R250.
“I did feel good about Sunday’s World Pool Gold Cup day card and was upset I did not win the Pick 6 as I under-played the combination. I was very bullish about Princess Calla after Mario (Ferreira) had told me they were going for the 1800m. I was big on the Tarry/Fourie runners, and had taken the bet options on the Hollywood competition entry to catch a few trebles and foursomes on the day,” a delighted Dave Scott told the Sporting Post.
He said that he noticed that very few big winners had included the programmatically generated betting slip option considering the extra bonus available. A minimum of a R50 wager affords the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge player an opportunity of doubling the payout on the day.
“It’s a pleasure having been invited to match my selections against South Africa’s best and I enjoyed the banter on the whatsapp group. Friendships have been rekindled and it’s great for the industry to have us all talking. This new innovation from Hollywoodbets keeps them ahead of the game to help promote racing and keep the punters happy,” he concluded.
Recently extended to include all local racemeetings, as well as Hong Kong and Singapore, the Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge has created a host of big winners.
The game is simple and free to play.
