Racing Records Up For Grabs

Quite a rare find

A resident of the Southern Suburbs in Cape Town has approached the Sporting Post and is selling a collection of 50 volumes of the Jockey Club’s South African Horseracing calendar.

The 50 volumes (39-92) date from 1942 to 1996 when they stopped printing. Number 40 and 47 are missing.

Some of the older covers are apparently slightly damaged and the cover printing is faded. Other than that, they are said to be in good condition.

They can be viewed in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town

One would imagine that there are not a lot of collections like this, despite it being incomplete.

An interesting aside is that Vol 39 (1942/43) cost £2, 2sh, while Vol 87 of 1990/91 all of R385. The later editions are not priced.

Any inquiries may be directed to our comments platform, or via email to [email protected]. They will be passed on to the seller for further attention.
