R3 Million Pick 6 Projected For Champions Season Opener

First is off at 11h10

With a projected R3 million Pick 6 pool, all eyes will be on Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday for the official start of the 2023 Champions Season.

There is an early start to proceedings with the WSB 400m Dash opening the day at 11h10.

There are three Gr2 races at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday and it could pay to follow trainer Candice Bass-Robinson and jockey Aldo Domeyer in all three.

They team up with Trip Of Fortune in the Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes, Golden Hostess in the World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas and Charles Dickens in the World Sports Betting Guineas. All three were bred and are owned by Drakenstein Stud.

Charles Dickens is the best of the trio and a banker bet for the carryover Pick 6, but stablemate Golden Hostess will also be tough to beat if she repeats a third place behind Desert Miracle and Captain’s Ransom in the Gr1 Majorca Stakes. That was followed up with a warm-up win in the Magnolia over 1200m last month, beating Kwinta’s Light.

Trip Of Fortune comes off a facile victory in the Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes and while he will be having his first run at Hollywoodbets Greyville, the Trippi colt is unbeaten in four starts over the 1400m race distance.

But it’s open and all of William Robertson, Safe Passage, Desert Miracle, Al Muthana and Gimme A Prince need to be included in Pick 6 bets.

The first leg of the Pick is off at 12h50.
