Querari Filly Looks Very Smart

Boland Stud bred the winner

The Querari filly River Queraress came out firing after a storm delay to the Turffontein Sunday meeting, when she registered an impressive hat-trick with a facile victory in the R150 000 Listed Ruffian Stakes.

Ridden by Warren Kennedy for Paul Peter, River Queraress paced it out with her stablemate and race favourite Fennec Fox for the first 600m, before drawing away.

With the favourite fading badly, River Queraress (3-1)gunned clear to register her first victory at Turffontein and beat Magic Tycoon (8-1) by 3 lengths in a time of 58,05 secs for the 1000m.

Corrie Lensley’s Show Time was a half length back in third.

The winner, a R250 000 National Yearling Sale purchase, is raced by the ASSM Racing Syndicate and has now won 3 races from her 4 starts for stakes of R218 750.

Bred by Boland Stud, she is by Querari (Oasis Dream) out of the Windrush mare, Clockwinder.
