We refer to the comments made under the heading “Cock-Tales and Racing” in the Sporting Post of Friday 3rd February2012 and would like to apologise for some of the comments made by certain Panel Members who are chosen because of their intimate knowledge of Racing.
With this in mind the WPOTA Committee will be changing the format of the Evening in the future. The Panel is only one aspect of the Evening’s activity and many people attend the Evening for different reasons. – (auctions of paintings and stallion services and the participation in the sweepstake)
A prominent Racing Presenter and Racing Executive has suggested that we do one on one interviews with some trainers and jockeys who are participating in the Met and we are most certainly open to further suggestions.
Once again we thank the racing enthusiasts who attended the evening for their overwhelming support and the wonderful donations which gives us the opportunity to embrace our charities which covers children (Autistic Schools) elderly (Benevolent Fund), horses (Western Cape Equine Trust – Horse Care Unit) and education (WP Groom’s School Trust). These four important avenues of service have come to rely heavily on the donations from the WPOTA.
