Flashback to Act Of War – Kenilworth 22 November – The 5000 milestone

Multiple champion jockey Piere Strydom approaches the Turffontein Saturday meeting just two winners short of his 5000 local winner milestone.

Strydom became the first South African jockey to ride a total of 5000 career winners in November 2014. 72 of those were registered off-shore and he thus immediately set about his next goal of notching up a ‘genuine SA’ 5000.

He won on Spellbound for Barend Botes at the Vaal on Thursday and took his local total to 4998.

He has five rides at Turffontein on Saturday. Three have reasonably strong winning chances.
