Peter’s Main Defender Can Do It Again

First due off @ 12h05

An exciting ten-race programme is scheduled for Turffontein this afternoon.

4Racing issued a cautionary on Friday afternoon after 6,5 mm of rain fell. However there was no further rain over night and we are all systems go.

There are three Grade 1 races on this card; the Wilgerbosdrift Gr1 SA Fillies Guineas, TAB Gr1 SA Classic and the H F Oppenheimer Gr1 Horse Chestnut Stakes.

There is a R1 million Pick 6 carryover with a likely pool of R5 million. Don’t forget to take the free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge with the first due off at 12h05.

Main Defender from the Tony Peter stable takes his place in Race 8.

He ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1400m on this course.

The son of Pathfork won this race last year. He is clearly in a good space and can defend his title. Gavin Lerena will take the ride for the Peter Stables.

Mike and Mathew de Kock send out Gimmeanotherchance in Race 3.

He is better than his last two starts.

He returns from a 13-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this distance.

On best form shown, he should be too good for this field.
