Peter Horses Scratched Today

First race is off at 12h00

Nine races are carded at Turffontein on the Standside course this afternoon.

The first is due off at 12h00 with the lucky last scheduled for 16h30.

A trio of horses from the Tony Peter yard have been scratched by the Stipes. No further information is available and the Sporting Post is endeavouring to obtain a comment from the NHA.

The horses were withdrawn under rule 4.2.18:

Without derogating from the generality of this provision, the SB and the STIPENDIARY STEWARDS shall have the following powers, functions and duties: within their discretion to take such decisions and actions as they may deem necessary to ensure the safety and/or wellbeing of PERSONS or HORSES involved in racing or necessary to ensure the RACES are conducted in a manner which safeguards the interests of all individuals and PERSONS. Such decisions will include the abandonment of a RACE/RACE MEETING, or any part thereof

Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainer Corne Spies saddles Captain Wara in Race 4. He took his chances in the Grade 2 Durban Golden Horseshoe last time.

Corne Spies and his son Xander

His form prior to that outing was good. The son of Captain Of All is back against Maiden Company this afternoon and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he should shed his maiden tag.

Climate Control from the Mike de Kock stable represents decent each way value in the lucky last.

He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he had to be eased in the latter stages. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts on this course. The fitting of the blinkers is encouraging. He takes a drop back in class and from pole position, he is capable of returning to winning ways.
