Paddy Kruyer – A Veteran Of Over 1000 Winners!

Part of the racing furniture in the Cape

Milnerton trainer Paddy Kruyer is a seasoned veteran and recently received some well-deserved accolades and recognition after playing a key role in the preparation of Michael Roberts’ SplashOut Gr1 Cape Derby winner, See It Again.

The KZN raider was based at the Kruyer Racing Milnerton yard for the Cape summer season, with Michael Roberts travelling between provinces. The two former jockeys communicated telephonically every day.

In the SplashOut Cape Derby post-race interview, champion Michael Roberts, who was celebrating his personal first Gr1 success as a trainer, thanked Kruyer for his work with the smashing chestnut son of Twice Over.

Contrary to reports in certain of our other racing publications, where Mr Kruyer was said to have trained just over 160 odd winners, we are pleased to confirm that the former top heavyweight jockey started training racehorses on 1 September 1985 and has actually saddled over 1030 winners, including a host of features countrywide.

Paddy Kruyer said it was a privilege to be a part of the winning team behind See It Again’s terrific victory and wished the connections every success with their SA Champions Season campaign.
